Am I mad to be considering this - http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2012... ?

I've been thinking over 4.5 years it's averaged 20k pa, which I'd be doing anyway

Seems cheap given the mega spec but a bit worried about things going wrong. Is the timing chain still a problem on these?

Timing chain tensioner could still be an issue, but it is quite a simple and cheap fix. Only a few cases of engine imploding because of the 'death rattle'. These usually happen earlier in life than that example.

Only other issue, which is subject to a recall, is the secondary cooling pump to the intercooler.

Mine is very young in miles, so can only regurgitate what others have said.

Nice spec. Don't think it's amazing value mind you. Chuck another £1000 at an S and you're looking at half the milage for an 07.

Its actually just an electric water pump to keep water recirculating through the turbo after shutdown - if op does buy the car (or any MCS/R56) give local main dealer a call to see if car needs the recall work or if its been done. Not something to worry about though in terms of cars mechanical wellbeing.

If its spec your after the satnav and leather models are fairly few and far between. Hence why they hold thier money slightly more.

A £1,000 more is likely to get a 07 plate with 40,000miles but no: satnav, leather, heated windscreen, heat seats etc.

Looks a good car and excellent colour though!
