I saw the new spaceframe Cobra chassis at DAX yesterday being prepared for the Stoneleigh show here are a few pic's!!! It's the work of DJ’s design & development team (Peter Walker & Gary Sanders - XCS Designs) It’s apparently quite a bit lighter than the standard DAX chassis – and obviously loses nothing in terms of stiffness!!. It's got a 600bhp supercharged LS3 engine and lots of other goodies - camber compensation (CC&AR) suspension front and rear, 350mm Tarox performance brakes, BAD 3-way gas dampers, Hydratrak viscous LSD unit, balance-bar brakes and so on. Should be quite a fun car to drive!

Not a million miles away from a TVR chassis to look at. Though I guess form follows function and no doubt this is going to have benefited from a more modern approach, not to mention the camber compensation. Cannot help wondering what it would look like with a modern hard top body and a cage.

Do they know you're posting that on here? Bit worried that they're keeping it under wraps to launch it at Stoneleigh and you've stolen their thunder. Did they OK you posting the pics on here?
Apart from that it means nothing to me so other than looking jolly good, I haven't a clue what I should be oooing and aaaarhing over so jolly good show.

Looks lovely. Out of interest how strong/safe are these chassis, particularly if hit from the side? Looks to have some substantial bracing around the engine. Do they put beams in the doors?

As others have said it looks Very nice! Be intresting to see how much lighter it is than the normal frames.

Any idea of the torsional stiffness - it doesn't look particularly beefy or heavily triangulated, for 600bhp?

What does the 'normal' chassis look like then? Not seen a bare Cobra before.

Do they put beams in the doors? In any Cobra replica, the name of the game is...avoid impacts..? A big wheel/tyre on each corner. Your side protection.. If you see something approaching; use all that power to get out of the way.. seriously, have to say I am impressed with the designers at Dax, their De Dion is superb but clearly not sitting back on their laurels. Why have they changed the "supertube" chassis that was around yonks ago?
Like Sam68 above, I wonder if this is any stiffer than their ladder frame, perhaps weight saving was the objective.
