Wilton Classic and Supercars 2012 - 05/08/12
New additions to this year's 'Best of British' event announced
Wilton Classic and Supercars returns on
Sunday 5th August when once again Lord Pembroke will allow a great collection of classic and current supercars to park on his lawn alongside a host of trade stands and other attractions. This year sees an increase in display cars, air displays, more trade and club stands and the addition of a dedicated classic car display area. McLaren are now sponsers for 2012, so expect it to be a significant presence over the weekend.

V12 Zagato now confirmed for Wilton House
As many of you will know, the format is simple yet effective, with a parade of supercars arriving on site at 12.00, and with over 200 cars expected on the day you can be sure it will be a sight (and sound) to behold. Thes then arrange themselves on the lawn to be admired. Alongside the house will be a range of classic cars from dealers and car clubs alike in addition to the EFG International paddock and as the show has a theme of 'Best of British' you can be sure to see some excellent cars from E-Types to the MP4-12C. Aston Martin are embracing this theme by bringing a new V12 Vantage Zagato and a James Bond-spec DBS to Wilton House.
The entertainment isn't just on the ground either; there will be an aerobatic display from a Lynx helicopter at around 3 p.m. An Apache helicopter is also provisionally booked, and we'll keep you up to date with the progress of its availability.
Tickets for the event are now on sale and prices are as follows:
-Adult Ticket - £12 in advance and £15 on the day
-Child Ticket (5-15) £5.60 in advance and £7 on the day
Premium tickets are also available priced at £30 for adults and £15 for children and this ticket type is only available in advance. Premium tickets include entry to the event in addition to VIP parking, entry into the Italianate Garden Enclosure overlooking the classic car display area including the Deckerdence bus offering licensed bar and food and a tour of the State Rooms of Wilton House.
More details on ticket options, the event itself and booking details can be found here.
PistonHeads will have a dedicated parking area on the day in an area adjacent to the trade area which leads to the house itself. To register your intention to park in the PH area please add your name to the calendar list here to help us manage numbers.

The OH likes to tag along on one big meeting a year, provided a) it's in the summer and b) there's something else to do apart from look at cars - bless! So I've booked premium tickets.

£15 on the day? I know it's not PH's fault but we're in a recession with many jobs going and a 50% hike in entry.

With respect sir..............
Lots of people think nothing of downing a few pints on a weekend at the pub, and same night you flush it down the drain.
So two good points here;
Drink less to save money and then you help with the water shortage, which means you can pay to go to nice places to see fantastic cars and have a great day out.
Thats my choice.

Hi Sir Bagalot, allow me to respond, With respect Sir, we're keen to encourage advance ticket sales (£12) but even at £15 we still feel this represents great value for money, particularly when compared to other vaguely similar events. While we'll always strive to keep the event informal and accessible, the cost of running such a thing (which is growing every year) is quite considerable, and we hope we've been able to keep the ticket prices fair; it's still roughly what you'd spend on an hour and a half at the cinema. Not that I would dream of comparing Goodwood FOS and Wilton as like-for-like (because they really aren't), at FOS you have no choice at all but to buy your tickets in advance, at £55 a head to boot, and your lunch and drink will probably cost £12 when you get there. If you want to go to Chris Evans' Car Fest, that'll be £65 - or at least it would have been if they hadn't sold all 20,000 tickets, at those prices, in one single day. I'm reluctant to concede (if having a relaxed day out with extraordinary supercars and classics in beautiful surroundings with aerobatics displays, military choppers doing stunts and tricks, and another 500 or so 'cars of interest' to look around sounds like your kind of thing) that your £12 at Wilton wouldn't be well spent. Full ticketing details are here. I may not have changed your opinion, but I hope you'll come along and report back on here afterwards as to whether you think £12 was reasonable or not. Best regards, JKB

Fatboy18 is incorrect; I suspect he's confusing VIP parking with being on the supercar display. Bless him, he's getting a bit old!
