I'd be interested in suggestions too. I'm sure I've heard someone say silver brake caliper paint is quite good.

I've found eastwood paints to work very well, even on exposed stuff like motorbike forks which are used all year round. There is a good range to choose a finish and effect;

Does anyone know if powder coating has a good resistance to heat compared to paint?

Have a look at this website.
http://www.rjstokes.co.uk/

Click on the links on the left side which are all the different types of paint and systems. It also includes all the technical data sheets including temperature tolerances.

I used this http://www.rjstokes.co.uk/TDS/AR002.pdf on the exhaust and manifolds.It is very good and only needs to be touched up in a few places once a year, mainly at the hotest points where the head/manifold meet.The exhaust was painted 3 years ago and is still perfect.

I used the epoxy primers in painting the chassis after shotblasting, and finished it off with a machine enamel red.

Most of the engine is aluminium so this just needs to be degreased and cleaned. I used various sized wire cup brushes in a grinder/drill to do this. End result after a lot of hardwork.
