as per mr Bastd; don't remove the decals. the f1's are definitely the more desireable of the 197 range. i have a 200 myself, in the same stunning colour. get onto 197.net as advised previously, it's a good little forum.
cheers, stu.

Nice colour OP. I was looking at the 197's before i went for the Celica. It had a great engine note and the handling was impressive but the interior was just so boring i couldn't face it. I spend a fair amount of time in the car so need a nice environment lol
I'm sure you'll love it.

cheers, stu. Do they really add value? I'm tempted by one but hate the decals. I'm attracted by the suspension and seat upgrades, but if I bought one I'd have to get rid of the decals. Would it really devalue the car?

I wouldn't say so really.. If it was mine I'd remove the front, back and roof. Keep the side ones as they're slightly more subtle.

Targarama said: Surely you can buy new stickers from Renault anyway? you can, but they are faaaar to expensive for what they are. you can also remove them, and it may not devalue it as such, as you might get lucky and get an idiot who doesn't know what it should have on it/look like when you come to sell it on. but i, personally, would want originality, so i'd steer clear of any which had been played with too much. i would't put stickers on my car like that, not at all, but if i bought an F1, they'd defiently be staying on it. and tbf, it lets others now you have the f1 aswell, not just any old 197, and f1 197, lol. stu.

Would it really devalue the car? Then just get a regular 197 with Cup pack and Recaros. And save a few bob / get a newer car by not paying the R27 premium.

Very nice. I had an albi blue one from new.. Only one negative i can throw and its the mpg difference between the 1*2 range and the 197. Probably 10mpg and no real difference in performance. But as said if its a toy for weekends who cars. Brilliant car and i dont think there is a weak colour for it!

Regarding the decals, when they were new (I bought one new ) you had two options: Decal delete or decals. Yours is obviously decals so you have the full package of decals. Interestingly, if you chose decal delete, it didn't actually delete all the decals. It instead only removed the roof and side decals on the doors. You still got the decals on the front and rear bumper regardless. So if you must remove them, I'd say only the roof and side ones if you want to keep it OEM. Great cars, had mine from new for about 14k miles never had a problem. Also, consider a remap by RS Tuning if you're into that sort of thing. Brings the engine alive and reduces some of the "peakiness".

"peakiness". Good advice that! Get the the remap after an exhaust system as that helps iron out flat spots

IIRC, that was the year things went a bit pear shaped for Renault after Alonso left. Must admit - it did annoy me a bit to the point I just wanted to take the F1 decals off.

[quote=tom felty]hi guys me and my Dad have just bought a 2007 Renaultsport Clio 197 F1 bought to replace the well missed 205 GTI quote]
Hi Tom, Nice car! I know you have barely had the car a day but I would be interested to know how you think the Clio compares to the 205?
I sold a 205 GTI last year to save it from the daily grind and got a 172 Cup in the hope it would be a modern equivalent. The 172 Cup is an awesome and capable car but it never feels as special as the Pug did, if you know what I mean?

Driving normally it sees around 36mpg. With a heavy foot it drops to around 32! Not much different to my old 172 Cup, more or less the same as my OH's 206 GTI. Perfectly acceptable.
