Hello, does anyone know a good supplier of spares for the 2.9 engine. I went to local Ford dealer to ask for a gasket and they weren't very helpful.

I particularly need the gasket between the throttles and plenum chamber, stepper motor gasket and also a set of exhaust manifold gaskets.

Thanks

gaskets for classics - find them through ebay Here (then phone them for those items not listed as there range is bigger than their listings) and Burton Power have both been really helpful to me, the former tend to be cheaper though, but Burton's range is more extensive and they do more performance stuff

Might be worth trying a different Ford dealer as well. When I first bought the S3C I went to the local Ford dealer for rocker cover gaskets. Didn't have high hopes. The part's chap knew the part number from memory!

Have found a couple of my local Main Dealers very helpful on the few occasions I've used them but you should bear in mind anyone's allowed to have a "bad day" and these engines have been out of production for a long time now. I worked at a Ford dealership many years ago and back then spares were meant to be available for up to ten years from end of production.

Varies from dealer to dealer and a) how helpful the staff member is and/or b) how old/long he's been in ford's parts dept.

If you get a YTS, it's probably not worth even starting the conversation, not because they're bad but because anything older than te latest focus won't be known to them.

I'm lucky, my local one is good if you get te right bloke.

Recent rocker cover gasket kit - £15 for the pair.

If the guy behind the counter is old enough to know what YTS means you'll probably be fine biggrin
