Hide the children. Darken the windows. Get out your all-black clothing. Jeremy Clarkson told a South African radio program that British motoring revue Top Gear will not return until 2013. We think this might be because of the London Olympics. Remember that this summer when you're watching Synchronized Swimming.

Specifically, while talking about the Top Gear Live road show Clarkson says it's the only time the three hosts will be together the rest of this year.

"It is going to be, it better be absolutely fantastic, it's also about the only time the three of us are working together this year because there's no Top Gear on this year."

We think this means we'll have to wait until 2013 for the 19th season to start. We've reached out to the BBC for a comment.
Worst none episode ever.

Either they are going to revamp things - lets be honest its been tired for a while.

Or they need more time to come up with more pointless bks to fill their time slot with.

Why would the Olympics affect Top Gear?

Because Jalopnik is American and they think the UK has three TV cameras, one of which is always pointed at the queen.

There's a rumour in internet land that there will be no more Top Gears this year. I'm afraid that apart from an Xmas special, it's true.

Would love to be back in the Autumn but Sunday nights then will be full of fat people singing.

The good news is that the longer we have to make the films, the better they will be.

We will be back in January
I imagine with the staff the BBC need to cover the Olympics (they're doing 33 hours of coverage a day across their channels) that will include at least some who normally work on TG.

Ahh beat me too it, his twitter feed is saying it's because of X Factor, but that's been going for years I don't see why this year should be any different unless the Olympics has moved X Factor?

It's not perhaps as good as it once was, but it's a shame there's no autumn series this year - considering huge amount of money it makes the Beeb I can't understand why they fk about with it so much.

Hopefully with all the extra time they can pull off a cracking Xmas special like the ones of old - Polar Special, Vietnam, S.America etc.

It's mostly the editing I hate these days.
Anyway. Top Gear America gets better each season.

Now we have Chris Harris's videos, Top Gear feels even more meh than ever. I would rather they took their time and produced a decent series than two series of rehashed mediocrity.
