Morning Gurus
New to Mg ownership and forum so be gentle !
Ok just bought my 1st Midget (did drive one for 6months about 20years ago) a non starter but in really good nic for the money engine I believe has been rebuilt and just had new clutch in. Tried to start it and the resistance wire melted great start so went and got a new standard 12v coil new points and condenser and wired coil straight to the battery but still not getting a spark at points. Any suggestions better still and of you guys near Sudbury Suffolk ? quite hard to find a mechanic now days that can do old electrics
Cheers

er, that looks different, especially the heater box, what's the bonnet look like
I'll leave it to 1500 owners to say what's what
another point I'll make is that with the poor quality of modern made parts you can introduce problems when you fit them, rotor arms and condensors are favourites too

The rotor arm comment above isn't a bad shout. The default one sold by suppliers are s te - I've had them fail in half a mile. The red rotor arms are much better. Get them from the Spitfire 1500 section on rimmerbros website - I dare say some MG oriented sites sell them too but I expect you'll find the triumph sites cheaper for engine bits. Seriously tho, try posting on the club triumph forum. After a gentle ribbing you'll get good advice.
