Now I know PH is very anti FB and no doubt plenty of comments to that effect will follow, however...

For those on FB who has deleted their a/c? I only ask as I just have. Signed up back in 2007 but of late i've just got sick of reading st posted by people i don't actually like. My "real" friends i see, speak to or text, sod anybody else to be honest!

So has anybody else taken the plunge?

Not possible, they keep your info until the sun implodes apparently.

I have deleted it twice for those reasons. But then needed it back again, mainly for spying purposes smile

They need to devise some kind of scale for people like me who havent received diversity training, and are unaware of what offends liberal sensibilities

It could be called the Bernard Manning Scale. laugh

who forces you to read all of the ste that is posted? my browser is set up so it just goes to my profile page. that way i dont have to actively use it but can still get messages etc. ok i had to delete some prick today who kept sending invites for his socialist group protests but that was painless enough.

seems a bit pointless to shut yourself completely out of the loop. often things like birthday invites get sent through there and so on. i know you are probably saying 'but if they are a good friend they will call me' which is true but often people dont. fb is now such a hub for people that other lines of communication can be overlooked. its kind of like linkedin, sure you probably will barely use it, but there will be a few occasions when people use it to get in contact when you are thankful you made the account.

why not just delete the annoying people? or if you don't want to do that, just unsubscribe from them, then their posts wont fill up your wall with pish.

Facebook is both useless and irritating. I thought I had deleted mine about two years ago (very glad I did, good riddance and not a single regret that I have done so) but i can see information remains online (maybe i have only deactivated it) so the link above is useful cheers, I will get on and do that pronto.

I was going to 'clean mine up' on the weekend. Its full of tripe from people I used to go to school with but don't really class as my friends. FB is good, just not when you have idiots spamming it.

Originally signed up to faecesbook at the request of a friend. I trundled along on there for a few years, mainly using it to look at what others were doing (rather than posting my own stuff).

I deleted my account yesterday as I didn't see the point in it anymore. I used to use it to wind some people up smile but they removed me in the end, so it got boring.

It is such an odd system. I know of some people who use it to make things official. I.e. a friend of my OH has now 'officially' started seeing someone as she has updated her status to 'in a relationship'. I have also known it to cause hatred. A woman at work split up with her boyfriend. She was more angry with him removing her from his friend list than the actual separation. Mad!

Ive never understood the point of deleting it. If you decided that you didnt want to read the moronic stuff on PH would you delete this account? No, you would just not log in. If you dont want to use facebook, just log out and dont log in again.

So many of the usual "complaints" about Facebook are user stupidity, either through not understanding what they've signed up to (who really reads the T&Cs?) or through not understanding the customisation options available to them.

Remember: If it's free, you're not the customer, you're the product.

Hey, here's an idea, why not just be friends with people on Facebook that you ARE ACTUALLY FRIENDS WITH IN REAL LIFE - not this bullst 1000 friends crap, 95% of whom you have never met & never will meet.
