Is that right, Torres won the Golden Boot? Gotta say though, just about every goal he scores seems to come from him cutting in from the left and curling the ball round the advancing keeper into the right hand corner.

Of the three goals he scored, two were against the ROI and one was against an already beaten Italian side.

Suarez was signed earlier if people are thinking he's a top player You don't want to be linked with Sigurdsson because you think you deserve to be linked with better players? We'll have him then thanks! Sigurdsson had a blinding season last year and would interest anyone outside of Man City. Who would you prefer to be linked with? Fabregas? Ronaldo? Us Spurs fans are infamous dreamers at times, but you need a cold shower if you think you can sign top players anymore, even with the gratuitous wads of cash you can dispense.

Apparently Siggy still has to decide between Spuds and Scousers.
A 'fair' player but I won't be crying if he decides to go North.

A) We need to be realistic about who we can sign. The majority of established/top players will want champs league and we're more than a season away from being regular contenders for that. B) I'm not particularly arsed about buying big names. Quite often they come with big egos and over-inflated price tags and I can think of more who don't live up to it then do. The smug factor of getting someone relatively unheard of and then turning them into world class players is the way forward. Torres, Alonso, Mash to name a few weren't superstars before they came to us but they were when they left.

I agree with all the posts so far on this page, except the one about Torres. I think he's looked sharp in this tournament and I dare to say if he'd played in the Spain squad more I think they'd have posed more of a threat when they were classed as "boring" and scored more goals.

As a Liverpool supporter, while I was pleased for Reina, Alonso and Arbeloa, it annoyed me greatly to see Torres grinning his head off. A pox on him and his false claims of loyalty.

A pox on him and his false claims of loyalty. You got 50 million quid for him (about 20M more than he was worth) so be happy! (the fact that you then blew £34.5M of it more than you should have on Andy Carroll isn't Torres' fault!)

He wouldn't have won what he has done this year if he had not made the move to london , as much as it pains me to say it
Although i do agree , Chelsea will never be as big & prestigious as Liverpool

Fair play, chaps. I know he didn't. Just would have been nice if he'd done a Michael Owen and move to "no medals" just when we went on to win in Europe. Alas not. Still, always prefer not to have players at the club who think they should be elsewhere.

I'm not bothered about big names or premier league proven nonsense. Rather bring in players that will strengthen key positions and get rid of those that would struggle to get in a top 10 starting 11 and I'd be satisfied. Right wing, striker and a strong defensive midfielder for me please whilst at least selling Downing, Spearing, Adam and Cole.
