Hi Guys after my off road trip and subsequent meeting with lamp post traveling back from the cancelled trip to AAC Nationals.
I got the dreaded call last week from the insurance engineer "car beyond economical repair, total loss"
not what I wanted to hear, but estimate exceeded car's value.
Still convinced the o/s/r tyre let go which caused the excursion onto the grass, Hankook Ventus get the definate hands down from me.
So just waiting now to see the payout value so I can begin the search to find a replacement.
Will have to be another 6.0 VXR and only available in red.
Keep you posted.

jelevents, sorry to hear that, it did look pretty bad frown

Glad to hear you'll be after a replacement thumbup

I'm not sure if you noticed, but I had a thread about tyres where I fitted some Avon ZZ3s to the rear of mine.

I found the car less composed than I was used to, it made the back feel like a separate car. I've gone back to some Michelin Pilot Super Sports, and it's back feeling how it used to.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if the tyres were a significant factor in the car biting you like it did, I know mine felt unsettled when accelerating whilst turning, even if doing so smoothly.

The second my front Pirellis need replacing I'll be replacing them with Michelins, and that is now all I'm ever putting on there.

As for the replacement, I'm sure we'll all be very willing to help you find another good one! thumbup

Alot of insurance companys allow you to buy back the written off car for 10% of the payout.

You could make yourself a bit of cash doing that, strip the shell and selling the salvaged parts.

Or if you dont have the space, speak to Raving (Gary). He will no doubt be interested in it. That way you dont have to break it yourself.

Ps- I'm really sorry to hear it's written off. Hopefully you'll be able to find another in a good spec biggrin

Not necessarily bad news then !!....money coming your way (lets hope its a fair offer from the insurance company!!)

Worth sorting a deal with a buy back of the VXR...i for one would be interested in buying the whole car as salvage (subject to a viewing)

Good luck bud wink
