I've just had a couple of days riding around the Isle of Man in superb weather The course had been setup for the TT, with useful signs before bends and padding on the street furniture. Wanging over the mountain with the throttle to the stop was a good experience (once on my lowly, albeit suspension-fettled and confidence-inspiring, FZS600 and once chasing a mate's 1200GS on my cousin's modern/'retro' Bonneville which was 'interesting', in a sort of classic cruiser kind of way), but the coast roads and 'Alpine' side roads were quieter, equally good and more my kind of thing. I need to do it again.

It's a very nice place.
Riding along at a reasonable lick, hugging the meandering coastline with occasional views of the blue sea in the corner of my eye was fantastic.

Nice one - I was on business over there for nearly a month over TT in 2004 and the quiet time after the circuit was set up, but the TT crowd hadn't arrived was awesome fun. Shame for me I was in a car

BlackPrince said: If it was a hired Mundaneo diesel its understandable why he couldnt have fun erm, have you driven one? I was arguably having more fun on my bike than the bloke driving the VX220 that I caught up on one of the side roads off the mountain. I waited behind for a while to allow him to give it some beans, he didn't, so passed him and rode on enthusiastically around the hairpins, but without resorting to hooliganism. -What a waste of a good car on great roads! ps. It was interesting to note that a lot of people seem to have trouble negotiating Ramsey Hairpin cleanly, including one that had managed to drop their bike and a few that couldn't get around without swinging wide. It's not that tight, though, I didn't have a problem with it myself.

I have actually yes. Not the diesel though but one of the petrols both the current generation and the original. Not a bad car for sure but hardly one suited to the Isle of Man. And I'm not comparing it to a Ferrari or an Ariel Atom, just to my Focus diesel, which I love and is brilliant round corners (for a FWD shopping trolley anyway).

Well, for what it is (a large estate car with a surprisingly composed chassis, aided by the 'small' steel wheels), I enjoy driving mine around tight back roads.
I enjoy riding the bike too.

Just had 4 days on the Island and clocked up 800 miles. Weather was superb. Some of the local drivers like to play ! This was taken at The Bungalow
