At some point this year I'm planning to swap my boring daily, for something 911 shaped., and preferably a nice bright colour which is how I like my cars generally. This got me wondering.
Most of my previous cars have been bright colours - red Maserati, light blue Morgan, Orange Morgan etc. The universal reaction to the Morgans I've driven is always totally positive from young old rich and poor alike, wheras the Maserati was mostly positive as most folks hadn't a clue what it was. Given that a 911 is pretty distinctive - does driving a bright red 911 (for example) generate any negativity out there on the road. Be interested to hear your experiences..

As an ex Speed Yellow owner ...i say go for it! I think the 911 shape looks far better in a bold colour (rather than silver/grey) Just bear in mind if resale is an issue for you,some/most people stick to 'regular' colour schemes so you will probably have a smaller audience, but,at the same time those that want a certain colour are comitted to buying same! Lastly, like i am sure many will say...if you like it,buy it...who cares what anyone else thinks.

I like bright colours on them. I find the normal silvers a bit dull....my present one is black, however next time I recon I'll probably go for white, or speed yellow.

I love bright colours on 911s! As the owner of 2 in Guards Red I'm a bit biased though. Subtle they ain't but I've had nothing but positive reaction to them.
Cheers

I've had a red 911 for 9 months and only postive comments. Pretty much daily. Just sold it yesterday and ordered another red car, 'nuff said!!

After looking at many 911s of various colours I came across this one and whilst not to everybodys taste I love it and have had nothing but good comments. The only car I would replace it with is a newer 997 GT3 in green or orange. Lifes for living enjoy it whilst you can

This is actually a big problem when buying a porsche. If I look at the 997turbos in the classifieds, every single car is either back, silver or grey .. and just ocassionally you get that zenith blue or whatever it is. No thanks !
Colour is everything on a car IMO. You can have the same model in two paints and one car looks plain rubbish and the other in the right shade (like that mint green above) looks a zillion dollars.

Biased as I also have a red one but they really suit primary colours. Pre 70s black and silver seemed to be the minority. Stand out and be proud !

I own a Lapis blue (02) Boxster and an arctic silver (03) Turbo and both receive positive and negative attention. Before I owned an 06 GTO in Torrid Red. In this car I received positive and negative attention. Nothing like young women throwing themselves at me or having to duck gunfire from red car haters, though. Three years ago I bought a SY Cayman S and then more recently (nearly 3 years ago) when I went shopping for a 996 Turbo I looked at SY and lapis blue examples (one each) but found a very nice arctic silver car very close to me and ended up buying the arctic silver car. Buy the car and in a color that suits you. Sincerely, Rockster.
