So I just bought a new Audi Avant A6 S-Line 3.0TDI with a boat load of options.

One of those options, which is on the invoice and paperwork 3-4 times at a cost of £2700+vat, is the Technology Advanced pack.

Now according to the salesmen, and the information pack he gave me, that comes with adaptive cruise control and pre-sense. (along with lane assist and a few others etc..)

Now since I do quite a few long road trips (going to Latvia next week..) the AAC and the lane assist stuff was was of the main reasons I went for that car. Plus the wife drives it and i'd like to think the presense stuff would be very helpful...

I got her to pick the car up last night as I was working, anyway found out soon as I stepped in and tried the AAC that I don't have it. The stalk doesn't have the distance control and neither do I have radar/camera where foglights would be.

So I'm fairly annoyed and disappointed if I'm honest. Was really looking forward to that on my road trip.

I'm really hoping they can just retrofit it, since i have the advanced dash with the lane assist etc.. I'm really hoping they can just fit it.

Anyway would appreciate some thoughts on what you would do, what you would expect from the dealer. This is the first time I've walked in and bought a car like this.

If you've paid for it then you should have it. Speak to the dealer, I'm sure they'll sort it ASAP without issue.

Stop wasting your time on the Internet and speak to the dealer.

If the option is on the invoice as you say then I shouldn't imagine there should be too many issues. You've not exactly been mis-sold anything, it looks like the dealer has made an error.

Have you spoken to the manager of the garage yet?

If you're not satisfied with what he says ..... rampage the dealership.

Personally I wouldn't have accepted the car.

Return it to the dealer ASAP with paper-work in hand, this is not the car you ordered. They can either retrofit it, supply you a different verhicle, or you can take you money elsewhere.

Refusing it outright one delivery would have been better, but given the wife picked it up, understandable that this detail got missed.

Think of it as a lucky saving of £2,700 and go and get the refund on the spec you did not receive.

If its not on the car its not like they are going to make you pay for it is it?

Is this the most un-necessary gadget invented yet on a car?

I'd be interested to know how quickly you got the car?

Was it a car they had on stock somewhere? (but missing one option and they thought they'd get away with it?)

Or you've waited for a build slot?

Its the third report I've heard of lately of a car turning up without the right spec. In one case buyer got her money back as they wanted 10 weeks to deliver the spec she ordered.

Was it brand new ?

Have you spoken to the dealer ? This should be the first thing you should do!

Step one would have been go straight to the dealer and sort it out.
Step two would have been to post on here 'look at what's happened to me but I've sorted it'

I think the issue will be that this specific option is NOT on the invoice and the OP only has a verbal suggestion from a salesmam.

At least that's how I read the original post...

Thanks both of you for such excellent insight into this matter. The car was picked up last night. The reason I post this question is to get an insight from others as to what they would expect from their dealer.

It was a showroom car, 15 miles on the clock, the info sheet that Audi had printed up had the technology pack advanced.
The strange thing is, the other bits in the pack were included, the side assist and active lane assist. But they aren't listed on the invoice, just the tech pack.

Do some reading into it... The pre-sense stuff is amazing. It's always running. If it senses a impact, it dabs the brakes to get your attention and if you don't do anything it will apply some braking power (i think 30%?), then when you do apply braking power, it actually takes over the braking force and applys the correct amount for the situation.

It's an incredible safety feature, in my driving career there have been a number of occasions when I've had to slam on the anchors due to idiots driving, on one occasion it almost resulted in loss of control and collision.

I don't care so much about the cruise control aspect, but the pre-sense stuff is very appealing esp. as my wife drives it.

p.s. Probably the most useless feature of this car is the wi-fi hotspot!!! Good job I've got a 3G datacard for work, get the misses to drive whilst I sit in the back and do a bit of work... NOT.

why are you asking on here and not popping a forehead vein out in the dealership? Make sure your argument is straight before you storm in though

They are aware as of 9am this morning. Don't need to get too stressed over it. The manager has already been on to me, waiting to hear back once they've checked the factory build information.

I'm asking on here to get opinions from people as to what THEY would expect from the dealer.

First thing to do is to speak to the dealer and see what they say about. Just be calm and polite and say that the vehicle should have this pack but does not seem to.

Then if there are problems, come back and see how to take it further.

With respect to the manager, who gives a s**t about the build information? They sold it to you on the premise that it had the options you mention; if they've misread the build information then that remains their problem, it's simply not pertinent to the fact that the car they gave you is not the same as the description that formed the basis for your purchase!

To answer your question though; I would expect them to either retrofit the options with immediate haste and to provide you with some form of transport in the interim period and if that's not possible then they should refund all your money immediately.

If you still want that particular car, a refund of 2700 less 13% would seem reasonable to me.

Is there anything in the info pack that Audi reserve the right to alter what's included in the packs?

Just trying to pre-empt his response.

This happens from time to time as not all car salesman know the spec of cars they are selling.

Try asking a standard merc sales exec about the spec differences of C63's with and without performance packs and you will get blank looks.

Best of lock getting it sorted.
