Bought my 1 year old 335i ,M sport last week, Did a 110 mile drive from Solihull to chester, set the cruise at 73 mph in comfort mode. Re-set all the computers before I left. So 99 % motorway driving. 42. 1 mpg lol, Not bad for 306 bhp ????
A one post wander. I'd bet this guy had an F30. I managed similar in my F30 hybrid which was a 335i with KERS.lambo911 said:
But what is the point having a 335i and an empty motorway and only doing 70!?
Might as well have a 316d
Not really.Might as well have a 316d
It's nice to have some poke on country lanes and when you want it. That and you'd probably be flooring the 316d to keep up with traffic and with not as nice an exhaust note .

Given all these stunningly good mpgs isn't it odd how the I5 Ford Focus ST owners seem to only able to get low 20's and apparently very pleased with it if they wanted an Eco box they would buy one.....
That's down to the owners IMHO, which aren't probably helped when they put an exhaust on ; it makes them sound a little more different .We have 2 Mondoe 2.5Ts. Same engine as the Focus ST and heavier. I normally get 28MPG and on motorway trips around 32-35MPG at around 80MPH without trying. Pure town driving with stop start traffic will get them down to the low 20s.
In my E46 M3 I've once seen 34MPG doing a dead 70MPH from Birmingham to Warwick; the computer claimed 37MPG. Going to Germany following someone incapable of keeping to a speed (read cruising at 60 for a while and then cruising at over 90!), 134 miles of the Nurburgring and then driving back to the UK swiftly I averaged 29MPG.

Keeping below 80 in the X5 achieved 28mpg, which is very impressive. With cruise, 30mpg is possible, but thats the limits. A relative's 635d can achieve 47mpg on cruise at 70.
I ignore the read out (in fact I have removed that read out) just go brim to brim over at least three tankfuls. As long as I get 500+ miles between fills I am happy.Pica-Pica said:

It does get 500+ miles between tanks however that is a £100 tank. Our XC90 would get 550+ miles on a full tank which is £70-80I have a 2008 E91 330d Auto, standard car, I have to commute at least twice a month to Manchester from West Midlands, 97 miles door to door. I can get there and back 3 times on one tank as long as I keep it below 80mph.
I'd have to check when I next get in it, but I think it's average just over 39mpg over the last 2,500 miles. Not sure how accurate that is though.
