Well thanks to TIPEC for a really nice day out at Tatton. Lots of cars, very friendly and relaxed atmosphere, some interesting talks, some lovely country walks, caterers that didn't rip you off and 100m away a nice little arty crafty shopping village that my wife thoroughly enjoyed.

Not over ambitious, not elietist and completely free. Anyone on PCGB's Board reading? I said F R E E ! Yes really.

Oh, and no hidden charges when you got there .... like Coys Auctioneers demanding money to enter their tent.

Well done TIPEC and Thank You.

Excellent event, my first, well done to TIPEC for the most unstuffy Porsche meeting.

TIPEC: small club, free national event. That's quite good really, I reckon.

You certainly can't fail to want to learn from the way events are changing. The overblown black-tie dinners, expensive ticket prices, Coys auctions with an entry that costs more than most event tickets, it's just not what people want now. Whether a two-day event is even going to work is debatable, but PCGB are stuck with the format for this year.

Entry for one day is only £10 for two people, so it's hardly expensive. Hopefully it's the way forward, the days of needing to charge high entry prices are long gone.

"the day's of NEEDING to charge high entry prices are long gone" ??

Should read......the day's of getting away with charging high entry prices and giving little in way of value for money are long gone. That's certainly the case where PCGB are concerned. That Blenheim palace racket will live long In the memory for me, to name but one event. PCGB's first priority seems to be to offer elitist perks for It's top table members, and very little In the way of fair value for It's grass roots members. Just how many of the membership are able, or even Interested In the sit down wine and dine stuff ?..
It's all very stuffy and with very little thought Into what the basic membership wants from an event. The highlight's should be car related, not shirt and tie sit down meal get togethers.
Tipec offer 50.00 for two year membership, and a free national event! How's that then ??
PCGB is top heavy In more ways than one and should consider returning to It's roots.

Ah come on. You know full well that members have to pay so that Club Dircetor's can go on jollies to South Africa rofl

£10 entry is course on top of the £55 per year membership fee to belong. And then there will be the hidden extras that the marketing blurb will have 'forgotten' to mention.... are Coys going again this year? I do hope the fat obese Coys security guard (the one who used the F word at my wife and mother in law because they wanted to look at the 959 but didn't quite understand why they had to pay £20 to do so when the 'programme' they had to buy was free on the web) is going to be there again. He was a real charmer. Or the over priced coffee and refreshments.

In fact ... will there be any cars there at all? I paid £80 for 4 tickets and there were less than 30 cars there on the Saturday because the marketing literature for the 3 day event failed to mention that there was sod all point going to the event on Saturday as everything was happening at Silverstone. None of the stewards thought to mention that either as I handed over £20 notes.

Poked my head in for an hour as relatively local. Had a chat with Chris from Excel Wheels and thought the quality of the sample wheels was spot on, so will be using him in the not too distant - a useful excursion for me.
