Having just topped up the freezer with a tenners worth of Lidl's finest, who actually makes the best ice cream?

I don't mean best in terms of "I like the flavour", I mean best in terms of "proper" good quality ice cream vs. whatever gets chucked in the quid a tub stuff.

(should add this Lidl stuff seems pretty damned good to me)

Joes, mumbles, Swansea.

The best.

(as a tip, made with condensed, sweetened milk)

The above tip is worth ££ thousands!

My wife has a brilliant recipe for home made alcoholic ice cream. Can't remember the liquore, but it's also got a zingy lime taste. Nothing I've tasted comes close.

Green & Blacks chocolate ice cream.

Normally I'm not bothered about chocolate or ice cream, but that stuff is something else.

Our cow molly do nice ice creams if you live in the Sheffield area. Otherwise I like Ben and Jerry's Chocolate fudge brownie.

Ben and Jerry's. Shame I can't find Vanilla over here, but I make do with Cookie Dough.

Snugburys make the best ice cream. Some of the straw sculptures are pretty good too. The 3 scoop mixture still defeats me though

Local to us, Marshfield Farm is very good; popular with the chicks at least. Not really an ice cream person, myself.

I would agree with that although I haven't been there for years. Stuff you can buy in supermarkets -

When I was a kid, long time before Haagen Dazs and B&J was known, we used to go on holiday to Criccieth in Wales. There was an ice cream shop called Cadwaladers, and boy did that taste good. Don’t know how it would compare to todays fancy-pants ice creams. I see they’re still around: http://www.cadwaladersicecream.co.uk/
