Hi there i should have said mines a 1993 model, the indicaters are by the hazard light switch ,you say the yellow one is ignition so if that comes on dos't indicate the systems not charging as well like most cars then i still have a red one at the bottom which i'm guessing is another warning light cheers nigel

I have a 94...

Two reds are ign and alarm

The yellow is the oil warning light.

As well as these cars leaving the factory with different configurations, many owners have customised their dashboard lights-swapping colours and positions-so no one can say what yours will be except the previous owner maybe.confused

Mine are all unlabeled but going from top to bottom I have "Alarm Status", "Oil Pressure Warning", "Alternator Warning" ...

... all being well today I should have my "spare" dash recovered and installed and I intend to add Left Indicator, Right Indicator, High Beam, Handbrake, Brake Fluid, Oil Pressure and Alternator warning lights in there - proper ones that have symbols on them so that you know what the hell they are! (Sourced some lovely looking ones from CBS Online.)

Have had my Radio panel recovered too and have asked for the left / right indicator and MIL / handbrake / fluid level / information telltales slots not to be cut out as all those are going to be moved up onto the main dash area.

Which one is alternator ? My red light is always dimly lit even with the ignition off and alarm off ,so bit of a battery drain ..

This problem is since the new after market alarm was fitted so somthing is not right .

My alt led was on the bottom, but now is on the top, so people can see my alarm flashing clearly......

The alarm one shouldn't glow, but my alt one does when the engine runs.....

Neither should glow with the keys out.....

Slight hitch...

...as mine is a daily driver and I only wanted to have the dash apart once I sourced a spare dash and radio panel from eBay. As I wanted to move the telltales up from the radio panel then I got a Mk2 dash and had a friend measure the holes in his old Mk1 dash to ensure they were the same size as those in my Mk2 dash (which they were).

  • HOWEVER* it seems that there may have been two sizes of clocks used in the Mk1 dash as my clocks and gauges wouldn't fit in my newly veneered main dash - the rev counter and speedo are 2mm diameter too big but the other gauges are 8mm diameter too big. BUGGER! frown
So anyway - my main dash panel is now out and with the guy for veneering (after having some additional holes drilled for the new warning lights) and my gauges and clocks are just rolling around in the dash. He's going to sell my "spare" dash separately so that he's not out of pocket. Hopefully I should have that back by the end of next week.

I managed to separate my main dash from the heater controls without breaking the LEDs that mark the functions of the two horizontal "wheels" but found that my fan switch was just loosely jammed between the heater controls mounting plate and the main dash so need to find the right way to mount that. (It passes through the hole in the heater controls mounting plate so can't be the right switch.)

I'm half tempted to drill out the red and green LEDs for "hot" and "less hot" (in summer) and "cold" and "very cold" (in winter) as I found some nice miniature 3mm 12v LEDs in red and blue (which sounds much more appropriate) and they fit through the existing holes in the dash very neatly but wouldn't have the depth to fit through the heater controls bracket too as the current ones do.

Of course I also may have killed one of my coil packs as I had a plug lead fry on me yesterday on the way back from County Durham - I managed to source a "replacement" lead from Halfwits by asking for a set of plug leads for anything that I could think of that may have Ford pattern coil packs but I'm still getting a nasty misfire on acceleration below 2,000 rpm. frown
