Been a long term lurker of these page's and thought now was the time to join as no matter how much I try to convince her, the wife wont let me keep it as apparenlty "we have no room for it" ( I have suggested keeping it as a garden feature but she is having none of it) yet we need to keep her wedding dress in the loft as it is more sentiemtal banghead

I have owned my trusty 306 D Turbo since 2009 and it just keeps going and wont die. If it would, it would make it easier to get rid of although the clutch has just starting to slip

I bought it for £1150 back in Jan 2009 on 113,000 miles and it has just gone past 164,000.

The best thing about it is that for the amount i've spent on it in those 3 years my brother has spent more on a set of tyres for his Audi.

Anyway here's a pick of it.

And this is its replacement and the reason why it aparently has to go :-(

I picked it up for the £500. It has done 161,000 but has full service history 6 months tax and 10 months MOT.

Luckily it has had the water pump, tentioners and Cam belt changed last year and 5,000 miles ago. I know its boring but whilst times are a bit hard it should keep me going for some years to come.

The flamesuit is on as I hear there are a few spelling nazi's around these here parts.

Thanks for reading.

Some good bangernomics going on there - that Focus looks far too tidy and straight to be £500, well done! Just noticed it is a 2004 model as well, where on earth did you find it that cheap?!

Is the Focus a TDDI or a TDCI engine? Supposed to be pretty good either way so long as you look after them smile

Ha ha, well it was a case of being in the right place at the right time.

A lady at work was buying a new Focus Titanium and she offered me this for a little less than they were going to give her as trade in (as she didnt want them to make anymore money out of her).

It is as clean as it looks, inside and out although there is a little rust hole on the boot which I will try to get sorted before it gets any worse.

I had a Phase 1 Dturbo in Diablo for just over a year; loved it - comfortable, quick enough for day-to-day running about, extremely economical, cheap to insure, easy to DIY service and although it went wrong a few times (minor things), each time I could fix it myself!

I bought it for £850 and sold it for £550.

I like the idea that a cheap car you've had for only three years might be of more sentimental value than a wedding dress smile

Why did you get the Focus if the 306 is still going strong - just because it was so much of a bargain?

(also - did you park 2 foot away from the double yellows just to take this picture?)

Hey what can I say, its the only car that I have ever kept for longer than a year and as it propably cost nearly the same as her dress I dont see why I cant keep it. biggrin

Just a shame I haven't got a garage and I dont fancy taking it apart and rebuilding it in the loft to join the wedding dress.

The Focus was just to good a deal to miss and just that bit newer.

With regards to the double yellows (i'm sure this will probably end up in the baddly parked cars thread), I had just had it washed so took a few quick photos as need to put it up for sale, down a side street before the Gloucester seagull's crapped on it. The only reason yellow lines are there is that the bank on the corner is busy in the day. At night the street is empty.
