Hi,

Red Arrows are due to do a display over Southampton Water at 6:20 on Tuesday. Forecast says clouds and rain but I don't know how low the clouds will be, or what they need anyway.

They do have a flat display for when there is a lower cloud base but even then if cloud is too low then they cannot display. I've been to a couple of shows where they have started doing the flat display but on a couple of turns the outer aircraft have ended up going into cloud with the bottom planes still in clear air. When that happens the display is postponed if it looks like a clearer patch is moving in, otherwise you get a couple of level passes and thats it, display over.

I hope the cloud base remains above 1000ft tomorrow. The planes will be flying right past my balcony. It would be a shame if the weather screws up my view.

They didn't. Then the fireworks were also mostly obscured by clouds too.

The ships weren't obscured by anything, it stopped raining as the QM2 came down to meet the dizzy Lizzy and sticky Vicky. Watching (and listening) to that lot was awesome. The red arrows pilots made it to the party on the Elizabeth, sadly without their planes. They wanted to do a fly past, Bournemouth airport wouldn't let them apparently.

Bournemouth may have reason to be anxious about flypasts. The outcome of that Inquiry is not out is it?

Very true, I can sympathise with them.
