I rather like the Pro-Hunter customisation of the Rolexes.

However, I don't really want to pay that type of money for something that Rolex will not service.

I have been keeping half an eye out for something similar but not so ridiculously expensive. All black PVD case and bracelet, diver's watch, unidirectional bezel.

The best I've found is at the other end of the spectrum - a Sekonda for £30 (and at that price I'm tempted as a gardening watch).

So, what else is there out there that I'm missing?

Looks more grey than black but that is maybe an illusion.

I also found this one:

Yes. The DLC coating is very scratch-proof, and mine keeps time better than every other watch I own other than an IWC doppelchrono that's at least 10x the price.

Surely, a CWC SBS is the correct choice at the cheaper end of the market. Plus, it is more "Pro" than the Rolex which no "Pros" actually officially wear, hunting or otherwise.

(You can pick one up used for about £200 on the usual forums if you wait.)

Alternatively, if money is yes object (hehe) then try a Cooper Submaster.

I think I paid about £20 for one.

I have just/finally taken delivery of the Steinhart Ocean Black. Looks and feels lovely. I might try to get some pics up over the weekend when I have the strap adjusted.

However, my wife has demanded that I surrender it to her so she can give it to me on my birthday (she complains that I just buy myself what I want so she has no idea what to get me). So it won't be on my wrist until mid-October.

I saw one of these on a colleague in a meeting - nice piece except he gave me some BS about it being issued to the Austrian Army . . . . .

I thought about buying a cheap Explorer II and then PVD'ing it with some red numerals around the bezel. But wasn't sure, so spent the money on a nice GMT II instead biggrin

Bamford and Sons made a Quartz chronograph watch in a similar style to their original Daytona being all black with bright blue numerals. Fantastic looking affordae piece. Think it originally sold for £250 about 5 years ago when they started pushing their pimped Rolex. Rare though , only ever seen one for sale second hand and I bought it!
