Inconsistent moderation
Discussion
I started a topic in The Loungs that immediately ( and I mean within a minute) got moved to Food and Drink.
The Lounge was a perfectly happy place for it to be, particularly as there are potentially far worse off topic subjects there.
In fact I don't actually know what an off topic subject in the lounge now is, so could one of the mods please explain what the difference is between on topic and off topic in The Lounge as I am for s
t confused.
Thanks in anticipation of the clarification.

From what I can see your thread was about sausages that you had for your breakfast, and were asking for recommendations of others to try.
Makes sense to me that it was moved to the forum specific to food and drink where you would get sensible answers.
Yes, I'd agree with you if say I'd started it in the Volvo form.Makes sense to me that it was moved to the forum specific to food and drink where you would get sensible answers.
But this was in The Longe where anything goes and where there is at least one other food/drink based thread already.
My question about what is and isn't on topic for the lounge stands please - clearly sausages ae a taboo topic...
As Matt suggests, your post below appears to be all about sausages. And guess what, there's a food forum, where you'd get the best, qualified responses, about food-related subjects .... like sausages

Had some Giggly Pig Old Englsh this morning for breakfast and they were bloody lovely.
Nice coarse cut pork, excellent peppery twang and a good measure of sage.

I do like a good sausage - recommend some?

Presumably anything non-motoring related that doesn't already have its own forum?
I suspect that gem of wisdom is the best I'll get.Shame really as I genuinely wanted to understand but it doesn't look as though I'll get a proper answer.
Obviously we don't read every single thread so there is always a chance that ones will get missed.
Never understood why people don't like threads being moved, its no extra work for the OP to access their thread and The Lounge is a special place you will rarely get sensible answers in there, I had a thread moved to Homes Gardens and DIY and discovered a whole new forum that's got some great threads

Sorry, but I am stuggling to understand what the problem is.
The right thread was in the right forum - note 'was' as the OP deleted it.
What am I missing
Ok, there isn't "a problem"The right thread was in the right forum - note 'was' as the OP deleted it.
What am I missing

I wanted to understand what the rules are about posting in The Lounge.
The Lounge, to me, seems like an anything goes place.
So I was puzzled as to why my sausage was moved (ooer)
Yes, yes yes, strictly speaking it was about food and drink, I get that but I stuck it in The Lounge as...well, it seemed like a good idea at the time.
Now, maybe not so good an idea.
This for me is still about inconsistency and not the thread that got moved.
And I mean inconsistency since if an unstructured forum such as The Lounge exists, why moderatae it other than for fights and whatnot?
It's that bit ^^ I don't get.

But if I wanted it in a specific forum I'd have put it there.
I still don't get the point of specifically moving it from a general s
tty mish mash melee such as The Lounge - moving from one specific forum, yes, I get that.
Ho hum.
But a lot of people won't even no these sub forums exist, you can customize your layout to only show certain ones, by moving it from the melee of the lounge you are more likely to get credible reasonable answers and it stands to reason if you have started a food thread you may be interested in other ones in there?
