It's been a long time since I last went(probably 10 years),but I've got the itch for a Shadow 2 again and regained an interest in Rolls Royce/Bentley models,so I'm considering a trip to the annual rally next Saturday.

The last time I went the entry fee was extortionate, there were only a handful of nice mint examples of the 1970,s/80's cars I was interested in and the brass band kept on playing 'Those Magnificent Men In Their Flying Machines' over and over again which became quite annoying after a while.

Has anything changed or will I be underwhelmed by the experience again and wonder why I made the 300 mile round trip?

The last....
It's been a few years since I last went, but I'm planning to make it along sometime during the weekend. Suspect it will be much as you describe it a decade ago, but I still enjoy the enormous number and variety of RR&B cars in attendance.

Cheers,

Andy

The rally is fundamentally unchanged and is THE only opportunity to see such a large number of the marque in one place. Yes, it is pricey but, for us, it is a full on weekend of shopping, meeting people and enjoying the motorcars. We have never not gone and very much enjoy it.

The brass band aren't to everyone's tastes and the constant tannoy announcements are annoying too, but it is still lots of fun for the reasons given already. If you have an itch for a shadow II then don't go or else you will end up loving them even more!

Beautiful car (except the gold mascot - not to my taste, especially on the colours of that motor). You should never have sold it (but you already acknowledged that!)

Didn't RR purposely make 'Emily' out of stainless steel so as to discourage gold plating? Either that or I thought I heard they officially made the statement that it was not to their wishes for customers to gold-ify her? Anyhow, seen more than a one of 'em that way.

Here's my Shad II, BTW wink
