Doubt it would be Olympic related, there are no events in Yorkshire, the only event in the NE is in Newcastle.

Sounds like a fast jet though; possibly using Linton on Ouse or Leeming for some purpose?

sounded like just the one place, but incredibly loud...I wondered whether it could be the Vulcan?

Quite broken is pretty apt, I heard the bang from my house.

Probably Typhoons visiting Leeming and cocking about over York for a bit. They're pretty loud!
They're over the moors a lot, and always get some attention from the public in Helmsley, so it would be my guess. Can't you point your golf-ball at them and tell us exactly biggrin

O/T are you doing another F'dales meet again this year?

Would that be the same Vulcan that Buzzed me while I was racing at Donington a couple of weeks ago then? Did it break since?

(pretty awesome sight and sound though as I went under Starkies Bridge and the Vulcan went over it then gave it the beans over East Mids)

Not this call sign, if we point that bugger at them, they'll fall out of the sky! laugh

Not sure really, do you fancy coming back again? It's a bit like the Craggy Island fun land that's all and wasn't sure if PH'ers enjoyed it so much!
At least it would put on a nice firework display when you did. "Look mummy pretty fireworks and shiny bits of foil" hehe

I think everyone enjoyed it; I certainly did. Pop up a post and see what response you get.

There was a Vulcan parked up at Robin Hood Airport when we flew from there a few weeks ago. I thought there was only the one flying now. Could this have been it?

Used to love seeing the buggers flying into Greenham Common for airshows when I lived down that way years ago.

Today's wasn't as noisy as yesterday, although I was on the other side of the city yesterday. I had assumed that it was the Vulcan, but if it is broken it can't be.

Thats the one. Suffered catastrophic engine failure in one engine, which led to the other one on the port side failing as well.

I passed Waddington yesterday and it was parked up on a stand.
