Recently I've aged 40 years. I should be on facebook talking to freinds like normal young chaps, but no, I reading up on 50s racers. Yet thankfully I am not alone in my adoration of 'claasic' racers. There are quite a few series for cars some people would be scared to touch let alone slice through Eau rouge with lashings of opposite lock. So what would you purchase from RM auctions or the like for racing? 1 f1 1 GT/prototype Regs vary, but any thing from mid 60s to mid 80s for f1, although certain events allow even older cars from the 30s. But dont worry too much just dont pick something from 2003... GT cars and prototypes are from 50s -70s. But once again dont worry. http://historicformulaone.com/http://www.themastersseries.com/http://spa-classic.com/My choices- f1- Well Im a bit annoyed the regs wont let me have a late 80s, early 90s car, So Ill have the Cooper Maserati T81, GT/Sports- Crikey hard one, Maserati 450s

I wouldn't bother with F1 - like watching it, but the cars don't appeal as much as the classic sports / GT cars of the same era. Dunno why, just don't do it for me...
So, I'd have:
- Lola T70 - Porsche 908, or maybe a Chevron or small Lola of some sort (with a 2.0 Cosworth howling away in the back)

GT/SP: Has to be open top and have a V12... so I'll have a Ferrari 512 please F1: assume it has to be from the DFV era, Lotus 49/72 is too obvious, as is Tyrell 002 etc so in the spirit of a varied grid I'll take a Brbham BT44

I'd take a 312PB for LMC, 1000km and Masters and ERA R5B for pre-war voiturette in VSCC, HGPCA, Revival and Monaco Historique.

I'd have to go Lotus 49, because Clark is my hero. I'm not a big fan of Ferrari, but I'd love a spin in one of these. 206 SP.

I know I know its hard. But If I started 'list all the most amazing cars pre 86 I think we'd break Pistonheads... P.S Check out some of the more modern sports car racing, I did a thread on GT1 a mounth or two ago, you can watch them all on youtube from the GT1world channel. Not bad at all.

I adore historic racing but have an equal amount of fun at F1, MotoGP, DTM, WEC, BTCC, etc. All historic cars were modern once...
