pic as is now

Pic with pillars blacked in and wheel arch cut out in one piece and whale tail vents made bigger

I want to try and open up the back end a bit more with regards to letting air out, the best way for me is to make the whale tale vents larger, just playing about with ideas at the moment...the last one looks a bit much at the moment but i have a feeling it will grow on me..

I said when you had it painted that the bits between the lights and the grille needed to be black!! Makes the whole rear end look wider and more squat.

You're right Rob looks good like that.

Not sure about the cutouts, they don't quite look right somehow, needs a bit more shape to them?

i like the look of them - but the clam will not be as strong as before

remember if you cut them out and change your mind, it is not easy to put the material back

too late now ..i already started cutting ..smile...should have it done before dusk.
i suppose even if i dont end up liking the look of it at least it will be letting more air out and reducing drag..
i like doing mods like this, costs nothing, quick and easy to carry out, and gives me a chance for a change

I do love how you seem to get bored and so to entertain yourself you take a hack saw to your car. And 9/10 the results are great. I'm liking these cut outs.

Absolutely nothing you can do about it now, or could have even before cutting, but - they should have followed the line of the lower clam lip. Now they just look wonky!

I've been waiting for someone to completely remove the slim strip under the lights & grille where the badges are stuck. I think that would look good. Been thinking about having that section wrapped black to match the bits you're now considering painting.

Hasn't he followed the curvature of the body? doesn't it look wonky due to the protruding diffuser?

I like it.

Your right Rob but you have to look at it from lots of different angles..also the cutouts are not finished yet, on the whale tail;e cutouts you will notice the left hand one goes shallow 3mm on the left hand end, i need tidy/ even them all up, but with regards to the wheel arch cutouts they do need to follow the curvature of the bodywork..i lined it out with black tape first and did not look right from different angles when following the lower lip..

Anywy here is a pic with the pillars black, i did make a mistake with the wheel arch cutouts, i made them a bit wider, about 2", and now it spoils the effect as the outer white bodywork outline is lost a little, it could have done with looking a bit thicker, from the rear view it looks like a thin strip but from the side there is a good 5" strip left, so it was difficult judging the line which worked well with both..but i think i went a bit too big as it has now spoiled the look from the back..i need to stick 1" back on frown

wink..thanks and yes you are right, if you dont follow the curvature of the body it looks wonky from many other angles, i its the side of the lower lip on the clam cuts through the curvature with a stright line that is true perpendicular to the ground..trying to follow this line from the rear view on a curved surface would make a concave line in opposition to the curvature of the bodywork..

Thanks for the compliments, your right.. i do get bored and start to cut the car up..lol. i think thats one of the things i love about the Noble, its interchangable smile
I woke up this morning and looked at the back of the car and i'm still very happy with it, it definitly feels and looks right whilst improving airflow by another 150%.. not all my mods work out so good but this one i think was a good choice..party
