It's renewal time and I want to shop around for the best price, so I wondered if anyone has found an insurer which offers reasonable premium suppliments for covering valuable bikes. I've been with Sainsbury's for a few years and their premiums are good but once you start to add £2000+ bikes it gets pricey.

AIUI insuring bikes separately is very expensive so I'd rather do it this way.

LV have been good for me. £800 bike is around £10 a year on my House insurance. I have claimed for bike theft 3 times in last 10 years and they always pay up straight away. No silly smallprint..

I'm with the Prudential. Optional bike cover for up to £1k, then I pay for £2.5k specified bike, total adds about £30 a year.

M&S - job done.

We went with them after a friend had to claim on his policy and they replaced his custom build MTB with no quibbles.

We've had to claim once on our policy & they were great. Swift replacement through their nominated party. We paid a few hundred quid extra on top to get the next model up.

I think the max bike value is £2.5k - but could be wrong.

They are not the cheapest now for us but due to our past experience of bike thefts we're sticking with them for peace of mind.

Sandy.

I'm with Nat West. Recently had both bikes stolen and very impressed with their efficiency and no quibble attitude

Im covered through my military kit insurance but the guys I work with who dont have that use the M&S policey. I looked into cancelling mine and use the NatWest ins but they only cover £1000 per bike.
