Did my firth commute in five days this morning.

This morning was a struggle.....

Would usually give up after four but had to take the kids to school this morning (on bikes) and cycling on from there was the quickest option.

Drove today instead, and still I get aggro.

Driving up a busy high street, there's nose to tail traffic in the opposite lane, mine is moving at around 20 mph. As I indicate and filter right into my right turn only lane, a workman-type cyclist on a £100 Argos mountain bike swings out from behind a bus, cycling straight at me. I stopped, he stopped right in front of me. I shrugged at him, he gave me the finger, then tried to squeeze down the gap between my car and the bus, while shouting all manner of expletives at me.

He was in my bloody lane!

Better ride in this morning but had 1/2 hour panic when couldn't find wallet. Cycled in early, 0615 and got in at 0640, where the security guard asked if I had lost anything? He had found my wallet when it dropped out of my bag when sorting out crook lock. What a fantastic bloke, I'm going to speak to building management and make sure they know about it. Nice when you work with good people!

Yes I was going so fast on my trek 6000 mountain bike that the 206 couldn't keep up! After much rethinking and remembering the incident, yes I conclude the 206 crew were tools. Had I posted this story on general gassing no doubt people would be calling for my head on a stick, you get a more sympathetic viewpoint on this forum to cyclists!

After five commutes on the trot, my legs were shot yesterday and this morning my hamstrings were rigid.

Finally beginning to feel normal again just before it all kicks in again tomorrow.

Don't say that, I'm going to try and commute/travel exclusively on my bike between now and Friday!

48 fast group miles yesterday, 60 in total.

So what did I do today to recover? Got on my bike, pointed it south and cycled to London then got the train back. 104 miles in total and my legs still feel strong. Strange but lovely feeling smile

My plan to ride all week failed spectacularly.
Ill family member meant no sleep until nearly midnight.
I'll ride in tomorrow though, honest!

I've started off on four days a week commute - 30 miles round trip x 5 is too much from pretty much nothing. Knocked a minute off my best time on the way home tonight. Will start doing it five days a week in a couple of weeks.

New bike arrives on Saturday!

Just spoken to my dad about bikes and he's letting me use his old Claud Butler Dalesman tourer circa 1990 this winter! It will need new tyres and a saddle but should make for a different commuting experience! Picking it up on Saturday. Retro heaven approaching!

Great run in this morning.

Makes it 16 bike commutes in September in 22 days and 320 miles for the month - a record for me.

I also found a solution to my tired legs. Go a bit slower. It works.
