loads on amazon and ebay for around £30, add a handle bar mount for a £5 and you are good to go. I got mine on a Lidl offer for £40 and its been awesome, battery life is just over an hour so perfect for the commute.

Impatient bh in battered 206, who had just squeezed me between her scratched and scraped stbox and a line of parked cars: "What are you doing, you keep going faster, how am I supposed to overtake you?"

Me:"I was going 26mph (in a 30 limit, but very built up residential area) at the top of the hill. Of course I'm going to go faster as I go down, it's called gravity. Why were you trying to overtake me anyway?"

Her:"You're on a bike, what am I SUPPOSED to do?!"

Me:"Try waiting for five fking seconds you impatient bh."

Her:"fk you! You have to slow down to let me overtake!"

Then she squealed off on the wet road without looking, and almost hit a car coming the other way. She beeped at them as if it was their fault. I really should get a camera. Any suggestions?
Just chill. It's just life riding a bike in a city.

Nice ride in this morning, if a bit chilly. The sun was shining and the was no wind. Borderline shorts weather, might have to break my no leggings rule soon.

Stop engaging in conversation with motorists who drive badly and put you in danger. They wont pay any attention to your comments, they are highly unlikely to see the incident from your perspective, they wont change how they drive, they will assume that they have right of way and claim that its your fault, you will become irate and it will ruin your morning..... and get a camera.

Tell that to the bloke last night who reprimanded the Evoque driver for using the cycle lane, in a voice last heard instructing Youtubers to "leave Britney alone!!!"

I spent a very pleasant day in the sunshine in London yesterday.
To save on transport costs, I decided to take my bike to get around.
Did about 35 miles in total around various bits of central London and the city and had a surprisingly positive experience.
You need eyes in the back of your head, but with clear signalling and decisive movements, I seemed to get on OK.
Drafting a road bike along Lower Thames Street through the middle of traffic was entertaining (and probably quite dangerous tbh!)

Yesterday, beautiful ride (don't usually ride in on Monday mornings so that I can bring in a week's worth of shirts etc), nice and bright, lovely fresh sea air in my lungs, what could be better? cool

Today, fecking soaked to the bone, cold, damp and freshly oiled bike covered in sand. what could be better? (my bloody Landcruiser!) rolleyes

First ride in on my Brompton that I picked up yesterday.

No drive to the station, no faffing about parking at the station, no walk to the station thereafter, and most importantly NO TUBE!!!

To be fair it's only my 5th day in London, but I was fed up of it already. It's saved me time door to door, means I'm getting some exercise in, and I have more options for trains home because I can ride back from several stations now (as opposed to wherever I parked).

I love cycling.

This...

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/111181617297?_trksid=p20...

...is crap in anything less than broad daylight. Even though it says it records in 1080P (7.........................................2...............................0.....................P is....................... a ...................wa.............s................te ..................o..............f ...........ef..................f...............or........t!) it only ever plays back in 480P, the holder is locked so it can only be mounted one way unless you use a different mount then it vibrates so much the image is useless, using the standard mount exposes the microphone so you can't hear a bloody thing other than wind noise either.

On the plus side the few clips I have posted I have forwarded to local Facebook pages and the standard of driving has generally improved with a few exceptions.

Safe passing distances are 50/50 instead of 10/90 thanks to the Penis Experiment but now there are Lemmings overtaking when there isn't enough room ahead. Had a very, very; very near miss this morning because three cars decided to overtake less than a hundred feet from a roundabout. rolleyes

Good stuff.

For all the complaints and rants we post on here, we all still do it every day because we love it.

Sounds like the mentality of most drivers 'I have to overtake no matter what-I cant possibly sit behind a cyclist I AM DRIVING A CAR GOD DAMN IT!!!'. Had some old duffer in a micra do the same to me- his car was basically touching my handlebars and I very nearly hit the kerb avoiding him, so I punched a nice dent into his C pillar which he wasnt so happy about lol. Funnily enough he seemed to notice me after that.

Went home last night fairly quickly. This morning I seem to have got the wrong legs on.

I'm wearing a set of those this morning, too! Had a glass of red last night for the first time in months, and I think I'm feeling the effects.

Was overtaken by a van last night, he got very close and was probably quite pleased he managed to overtake me and remain in the lane aka way too close for comfort.... he was caught at the lights up ahead, so I pulled up alongside him and tapped on the window... I was nice and calm and asked if he could give cyclists a bit more room next time, potholes, drains etc etc, he was apologetic and said sorry..... and maybe thought that driving like a dick in an NHS liveried van wasnt the best thing to do.

Disptite the headwind and the wet on the road it was a pleasent ride in this morning, nearly went arse over tit less than a mile from the office though. Lights changed to green so I "floored it" went around the corner and there are three drain covers in a line; the bike went well sideways thankfully I got my foot down and mananaged to push myself up, didn't even need to stop but it made me think. Knowing my luck the wind will change five minutes before I leave work at 12 and I will have a headwind all the way home as well (been lucky so far with it being fairly constant).

Second time this week. 5th time since new job, it is getting easier. Lovely ride this morning, so warm.

Felt less guilty about my sausage roll from the sandwich van.
