Legally they are restricted to around 15 MPH with, I think, 200 watt motors. But some have far more than that bolted to their bikes. A mate has just fitted a 500 watt motor to his and will top 27 MPH(checked while riding beside him).
I'm sure I nailed him a few months ago, he's probably upgraded after the shame of an old bloke beating him smile

Having been cycling to work 4 days per week since December I was told today my cycle kit isn't welcome in the office as it had been 'commented on'. I'm still really irritated hours later. This is a couple of weeks after our big sustainability / green travel week. It would be fair if I turned up in some disgusting old kit that had been sweated in repeatedly like some of the cyclists at work but it's fresh every day and had 'suffered' an easy 10k flat ride to the office. The only time it's damp is if it rains. So pretty much the objection is because it could be smelly. So I'm now back to stuffing it all in a small locker on top of a damp towel with my helmet on top. I started out this way and found that come 8 hours later not only was your damp kit still damp but it was now cold.

I had a similar issue where colleagues didn't like my bibs hanging from the coat rack. I did an extra long commute in and put them in the drying cupboard in the kitchen. After that no one has complained of them hanging on the coat rack. Sometimes people just need to be reminded things could be a lot worse wink

Interesting stat. That's one thing I don't keep track of on my spreadsheet. I might have to add a column smile My guess is that I am slightly under 500.

I track how much money I save by cycling to work and today I reached £239 for the current work place. I paid £230 for my Tern folder, so that means its now paid for smile I have paid out about £40 for servicing, but that will only take me a couple of weeks of riding to pay that off smile

Lovely weather this morning, but the shower room was a bit like a sauna frown

Filled out my application for my R2W scheme yesterday morning. Hoping to get the voucher through in a week's time. So excited and I shall be pleased to see the back of the Tern biggrin

That was probably one of the best rides to work too. Very fast and nice and warm. Makes those cold winter mornings seem worth it.

I use about a gallon of fuel when I drive to work, so reckon cycling to work has saved at least £2500 now.

I've no idea how many time I have ridden to work. Coming up for 4 years, I have had a lift or walked less than 10 days, apart from the 4 months after my stroke I have cycled every day - so that must be 52 weeks less 5 for holidays, less 4 (to get the 4 months back), less 3 to allow for other reasons not to cycle, comes up with 40 weeks per year - times 5 gives about 200 days cycling per year, so I am coming up for around 800 days cycling now!

I have set Strava running for all my cycling this year, so normally record 3 rides - this comes up with about 93 rides for this year so far.

Anyway, what a fantastic day for a ride today! Beautiful sunshine, almost too hot! Looking forward to the ride home now!

I stormed home last night in near-ideal conditions. PRs on numerous sections. Barrelling along on the flat at 30mph (for a short time) I felt like Wiggins.

I needed to drive this morning... Shame, as it felt like the south of France this morning.

My Lunchtime run will probably be like the Marathon des sables.

My chums father, rode to work for 22 years, about 5 miles, take off weekends, bank holidays, annual leave, we work about 45 weeks a year. 45weeks *5 days *10 miles * 22 years = 49,500 miles!!

Anyone else get a bit nervy just as they are leaving?

Been riding to work for years, doing my current route for 2 years, I always find myself a bit nervy just as I leave, which is odd for me!

Although my commute starts with a nice chunky climb , think it is my adrenalin getting dumped in my stomach to cope with that!

Got knocked off this morning. Second time in 3.5 years of daily commuting through London - not sure if thats good or bad.

Driver turned right across my path at a cross-roads, on a relatively fast road (I was doing 28mph before - luckily had scrubbed most off by the time of the impact). Hit the side of the car then the ground. Took a while for the adrenaline to leave and the bruises to start hurting but nothing broken (as far as I can tell) - just sore.

Think the bike is ok but off to the bike shop for an independent analysis.

On the positive side, lots of by-standers and other motorists were very helpful (I was a bit too shocked to be thankful at the time, so unfortunately I probably came across as somewhat ungrateful).

From last time's experience it will take a while for the back of the mind to be worrying about every car suddenly cutting across me.

A reminder, that however experienced you are, and however good you think you are at predicting danger, we are still vulunerable out there. Keep safe.

Jeez. Glad you are ok.

Did the driver who hit you stop? Any chance of getting some money off them for repairs?

I love riding in - it really starts the day well. I'd happily do 2 or 3 times the distance I need to in the morning.

I hate riding home though! Climbing into worn bib - shorts and getting going is hardwork. Saying that, once I'm moving I enjoy it. So much so that last night I got a 5th place on a tough segment. Which was nice!
