It was very wet on the way home, but not cold.

I need a new waterproof jacket. It has been patched many times and is now leaking again.

Got wetter than an otter's pocket on the way home. Had to pour water out of my shoes before coming in the house..

You aren't going to believe this.

I had a tail wind on the way in today.

Then, come home time.....I had a tail wind!!!

Pish wet through on the way home but when the wind is on your back, it doesn't matter as much.

I am feeling rather angry / concerned for my own safety this morning.

1. A van came around a corner on the wrong side of the road and nearly hit me
2. A car ran a red light whilst i was crossing the road and nearly hit me
3. Pedestrians walking on cycle / pedestrian path in the pitch black dark = very hard to see. My lights got them at the very last minute.

Hehe me too.
Left work in shorts but took the waterproofs as I knew rain had been forecast.
Half way the wind picked up and a bit of drizzle so put on the waterproofs.

With 1.5 miles left it suddenly pissed it down and the wind just doubled. I was luckily very close to a subway so sheltered but was already soaked in the 2 mins it took to get underground !

Blimey Fridays ride home was was probably the worst all round weather I have ever ridden in!

Thick mud and flooded gravel track first , then heavy rain, then freak strong winds that pushed me to the wrong side of the road!! Ive ridden the route for 10+ years and never been actually been pushed off the road by crosswind! Then to finish off strong hail in the face!

I looked out the window and decided to drive today!

Same here, I didn't have to pedal particularly hard on one uphill section this morning with the wind behind me. biggrin Unfortunately the current forecast is heavy rain and a 57kph headwind from my ride home tonight.

Wind did my nut in Friday! I'm used to it comuteing over the years on a rural downs route, I normally drop a gear, get on the drops and spin through it and job jobbed. On a singlespeed with higher profile wheels I just couldn't get the cadence high enough and was like a dingy in a rough sea!!! The odd tree would then block it, so Id be ok then the wind would hit me and push me over to the wrong side of the road again. Was like a boxing match that I was badly losing....to top it off a branch then blew off and hit me in the chest! All this down a pitch black back road...

I did ask myself why do I cycle to work when I have a car at home just sat there all day and free parking at work...anyone ever ask themselves that?

I went for a muddy spin yesterday, I've never had cross winds like it, if you were blindfolded you'd swear somebody was kicking the front wheel.

There's a section of uphill fire road that I usually pedal up at a fair rate, but yesterday I was going up it without pedalling due to the tail wind, incredible.

I drove in this morning, yesterdays 15 mile muddy ride was enough for a day or two.

I'll be putting a sail up for the ride home.

I may also set some PBs up the hills if it's as strong as it feels...

it was an exhilarating ride in this morning, although it has become more wild here this pm.

No.

For me, it saves sitting in traffic jams, it gives me a couple of hours riding, there's a feeling of achievement, occasionally a feeling of adventure and it costs very little.

Why wouldn't I do it?!

I don't really have a choice, I'm several hundred miles from my car and if I took the bus it would involve spending nearly as much time walking as it does to cycle the whole way. I would have wimped out and taken the car if I was at home, so working away is good for me...or would be if the local supermarket didn't sell 10% trappist beers for €1.30 biggrin

Sometimes, but the answer is easy. I only live 4 miles away. Its fun cycling and good for me. I question it more on the short bit of road I have to go on, there is always one car who comes far too close for comfort.
