Bit of info required of you can help

Have a few sports boats in the past, just used to turn up to Windermere and drive no licence required etc.

Now looking at the option of something bigger and wanted to know do you need any form of licence to drive (pilot??) a boat and if so what size does the licence start from?

No. Not in the UK.

But RYA Powerboat level 2 is recommended, as is insurance. The latter will be mandatory too at many/most private slipways.

A licence is also required to use a VHF radio, essential on the sea. One day course.
