Another reason to leave the EU
Discussion
The EU has ruled that employers will have to recompense workers who fall ill during their holidays.
It's no wonder that Europe is going bankrupt.

You're right, no wonder at all. Even as the EU flushes itself down the sewer it has been relentlessly constructing over decades, it keeps digging..It's no wonder that Europe is going bankrupt.

I can understand it even if it seems mad. When you go in holiday you're paid holiday pay, so in effect your employer is employing you to take a break so if you're ill it stands to reason that you will be able to 'go sick' during that time.
Of course it works both ways in that in this country you would be required to produce a sick note after a set time and I guess an employer could then put you on Statutory Sick Pay which is a standard rate and usually a lot less than your holiday pay.

It's always been the case where I work. If you're taken ill during your holiday and you have a note from the GP/Hospital you can claim back your leave days.
Do you think that this is reasonable?Tbh I'd assumed it was normal practise as presumably most organisations let you cancel time off if you need to.
