Recovery tomorrow and meant to be going to Old Buckenham airshow on Sunday, again weather permitting... Well that will be a big fat NO then! Absolutely mad weather here, barely see the end of the agrden out of the window for the rain!! And SKY has just packed up - hoping it'll be back on in time for the BSB...

Today will be all bikey, but fiddling not riding. Tomorrow will be greenlaning in Hampshire and Sunday could possibly be fitting a new clutch in the TRX (if the plates arrive) TRX plates arrived, but due to yesterdays shenanigans when off-roading, I find myself a bit one handed today. I had an off yesterday where I managed to go down pretty hard, getting my hand between the bars and a tree root. The result being a hand thats quite bruised and swollen to the point I can't see any knuckles

Finished my tea, and thought nice evening, so popped over the border to norfolk to see my Dad, admire the progress on his garden, drink a mug of tea, then pootle on back. Thanks to the football the roads were lovely and quiet and even the weather was dry!

The RC8R is a lovely bike, plenty of power, great handling and strong brakes. It's not as fast in a straight line as the S1000RR I tried in the week, but this has a lot more accessible power for the road. Its wearing sportsmarts, which I'm really impressed with, only breaking traction in the wet when I was a bit heavy handed on a down change with the clutch. It nearly caught me out going up a lane from CQ8's place when the rear span up on some vegetation occupying the centre of the road. I'm not sure its a bike you could use all year round, despite having tourer-like ergonomics, the engine has a smidgin too much engine braking and is unforgiving of ham fisted inputs. I'm sure with a bit more finesse and respect you could master it in adverse weather but I'm still dubious. Power hits you like a sledge hammer, it just wants to go in any gear and just keeps on coming. I never ran out of revs or was left wanting more power. My only gripe, is a lack of initial feel from the Brembos. I think they're monoblocks- there is no split in the caliper. You only need 1 finger for braking, I was riding home last night in the dark when I forgot where I was and entered a bend a bit too fast so grabbed a handful, which made the rear squiggle about and nearly threw me over the bars, if the brakes were a bit more progressive, I think it would be a welcome modification. This particular one seems to have duff head stock bearings, as there seems to be some play and notchyness to the steering. I love it, I don't want to hand it back. I've had kids waving at me, people talking to me at petrol stations and taking Pictures of it when parked up. I'm sure if ever a bike would get you laid, this would be it.

I had the plate out from my Tib in December 2011, after coming off crutches in Jan 2011 (5 months after the accident). With the plate in jogging, jumping squats during circuit training etc was properly painful so my surgeon said he would take it out. It was night and day afterwards (didn't impact it for a month) and now I can run pain free - just waiting for my fractured ankle to give me arthritis.. Ankle movement is about 90% - I still try and exercise it to increase ROM but don't know if it will get better. Site of where the plate was is still painful to touch 6 months later - but this is better than having the plate in. Hows you? Ever get to Hartford Marina again? - not been there for ages.

Glad you're on the fix, try acupuncture for the painful area or acupressure/trigger points. The research is really good in regards to pain reduction. Get a wobble board to keep intrinsic strength and stretch it like the naughty joint it is! You should still consider those orthoses to stabilize the ankle joint when you're leaping about ( the orthoheel ones from Boots arn't too bad) I'm ok, the whole work thing is still hanging over me like a cloud (solicitors etc) but I'm down in Surrey now so life is getting better. Essentially I've swapped Hartford for Loomies!! You should head down some time!
