Do you set any, if you achieve them is it fulfilling, or leaving you wanting more? When you look back, did those things you thought so important at the time turn out to be so? Me: I wanted to drink in every pub in Cambridge in a six month period (back when there were lots!) Tick Next: get to every F1 race. a bit shallow really

Although I'm very much enjoying not having a target at the moment!

I wanted a car which could be considered properly 'PH', and to move out of my Mum's house. Or rather, those are my current big goals - I had achieved the car bit, but it's broken now, so doesn't count. Right now my goal is to let my wrist heal so I can get back to real fitness goals. Not being able to lift is s t. Also to decide what I want to do with my life.

Constantly, in all aspects of my life. Current one is a biggie though!

Being a motoring website, I should add I wanted to own & run my own car at 17. (that was quite unusual in the 70s) Tick!

When I was at University I decided that, given my chosen field (Chemistry), I was never going to chase the big money as I was too interested in the science, rather than business/entrepreneurship. So I set myself a modest target, aimed at earning what I considered to be 'good' money. This meant that I would need to progress at a steady rate through my career, and plan my next moves- but always maintaining a job that I enjoyed. The targets were that I would be earning a set salary by my 30th birthday, then another set salary by the time I was 40. And so on. I'm not 30 yet, but have almost achieved the target for my 40th birthday, so have revised them accordingly (i.e. shifted then backwards, so 40 year target became 30 year target).
Quite a shallow target really, but it stops me from stagnating. I'm always looking to develop my skills and to progress to the next level (or to move jobs if I need to seek the enjoyment at the next level).

Currently, the material targets are to get a career, move out and get on my way to achieving the next targets which I can loosely define as 'more'. More money, more cars, better lifestyle. This is assuming good general health and happiness, for without those, there's no point is there

Of course.
Otherwise we just stagnate, but with ambitions and targets, we strive to succeed.

I wanted a first in my degree, didn't work hard enough, got a 2:1 and have just started a better job than I could ever have hoped for. Uhh....

I always set myself goals and only remember the ones I achieve like passing my test at 17, getting a good job after a tough job and starting a savings account. I'd say my goal is becoming a good person and doing work for charity. I'm not talking about volunteering at a "charity shop" who give about 15% to their own cause, I mean doing good deeds to people I can see that need that nudge of help, just asking people if they need a little help

Get a decent graduate job by September latest (generally when a lot of schemes start). Start saving for the extra cost-to-change from '09 207 to '10 3 MPS. Start saving for insurance for a '10 3 MPS. Start saving for a contingency fund for a '10 MPS.
I aim to be done in roughly a year, probably just over. Come on!

I set myself low personal standards and then consistently fail to achieve them.

When I was 10 it was to become a vet nurse, which I did (even though it was an uphill battle to get the school to believe I was serious - it's a common passing phase type career for many) at 14 I said I'd have a peugeot 205 someday. I finally did just 11 yrs later!
My biggest goal now is to stop working 50hr weeks before my 2yr old son forgets who I am (and before hubby thinks I'm just a lodger in our house!) and to look forward to our first holiday in 2yrs - a wk in Forest of Dean in Nov (where we had a last hols)
I'm not sure when my life became all work and no play but I definitely have my work life balance wrong (damn bills!).

Start looking after my money, I earn enough but am always skint, this is largely owing to lazyness on my part, not checking bank balances and household budgeting, I seem to go through periods where I'm good at that sort of thing then get complacent. I'm not talking owing thousands on credit cards, or having daft loans at high intrest rates, or living the high life, its largely busting my overdraft limit every month and racking up loads of charges. Piss poor really, must do better.

One month ago I wasn't sure. Today I hand in my notice to join a medical device start-up. My ambition and target is an exit in 5-7 years. * Ought to keep me busy Stu - and a f-off yellow diablo as a pressy to myself if successful.
