Unless Ducati have a stonking bike in the pipeline for next year this will be a dreadful move. I can see Rossi ending up on a satellite yam somehow, maybe even his own team?

It may not be such a bad move. He isn't going to be winning races and championships on a Tech3 bike and assuming he's not in line for a works Yamaha or Honda ride the Ducati could be the next best thing. Stoner did a damn fine job on it, so I guess it depends on how confident Cal is in his own ability.
His style may suit the Ducati, he strikes me as more Stoner than Rossi in riding style.

Motogp needs a cap like the f1, it's bad when Kawasaki don't have a bike there and Suzuki only have 1.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here - with the Hondas HRC CEO's words from 2003 still ringing in my ears, thus: 'we will crush Rossi'...
My 50 quid bet is going on Rossi ending his Moto GP career back on a Repsol Honda....
Anyone else?

The Ducati has smashed to many riders confidence now to go there at this stage, let's face it only Stoner done the biz on it and he came off countless times due to front end wash outs.

I hope not. Anyhow, why can't Cal have the factory Yam' ride? Especially if he keeps in front of Dovi who has had a factory ride. Oh, and please don't tell me Pedrosa's got another year on factory bike, it 'aint right.

If the factory yam seat isn't offered then why not stay with tech3? They've done well this year and next year should improve a bit more. Oh yeah and bin bradley smith and get redding instead in tech3

Pedrosa's contract ends at the end of the year and I don't think even with Repsol sponsorship they will have 2 Spanish riders on the factory Hondas. They have been rumoured to have offered Pedrosa a contract but 3 times less money than his current contract, perhaps to get him to jump instead of being pushed. Although Bradl & Marquez would be a good paring their experience is too few for HRC, which does open the door up. Would Honda bite it's tongue and get Rossi back, imagine the remarks of "following in Stoners footsteps" and could Rossi take a year of being beaten by rookie Marquez? It could happen. Could Hayden go back to Honda. That would open up a place at Ducati (with or without the other being filled by Crutchlow) for Bradl, Bautista, Spies or Pedrosa? Yamaha, Lorenzo and (pick anyone basically). Tech 3, Smith has a contract but on what and who with. Gresini, junior Honda for Pedrosa or will he be on LCR if Bradl jumps up. Musical chairs, last one sitting wins and everyone avoiding the Pramac Ducati.

Nowts going to happen till Brno I reckon - thats when VR says he will decide. Gives him two races with the "revised" engine thats promised for Laguna.
