I'm looking at these for my wife the cooper and cooper s models in particular.
She previously had a 2006 mini cooper and likes the thought of going back to the mini brand now she's a mum.
What's the must have options ?
Is the few k more for the cooper s really worth it for 6k miles a year for the shopping run ?
cheers

There are so many options that it is hard to say the must have. I would say just dont go for an odd colour.
There is a big power gain for the S. This will cost more to run but be more fun to drive. I would take both out and see what you thing.

Chili pack is a must have, everything else not so important really! You get bluetooth/park sensors and that's all people seem to care about!

The Countryman is a heavy car compared with the standard hatch... While the Cooper Hatch feels fun to drive, in the Countryman the standard 1.6 petrol feels a bit limp.
The Cooper S feels better, but with the extra weight it's heavier on fuel.
Drive both... see what you prefer.

We've had an S and an All4 SD whilst we wait for ours to be delivered. The SD isn't as perky as the petrol but there's not that much in it. We've added the Lounge Leather, Chili and Media packs on ours. The Mini Connected stuff that comes with the Media pack is also pretty cool. I've specced the black headlights on ours which I think make it stand out a bit. The S we had as a loaner for a fortnight had the JCW bodykit which looked great, plus white 19" JCW wheels (slightly lairy!) and sports suspension (a little bit harsh).
Check out the "North American Motoring" Mini forum which seems to have a lot of info from Countryman owners.

We got the call from the dealer today saying my mrs' new countryman cooper s will be ready to collect Saturday SD is a decent car, but I couldn't live with her having a diesel for when I have to drive it, plus it was a fair bit more expensive and with the 2-3k miles a year she'll do in it, we'll live with the MPG loss Options spec'ed are chilli pack, sat nav, 18" turbofans in anthracite and two red stripes (car is white) and auto box with paddles (she wanted an auto) We've had a normal D for the last five weeks as a loan car from the dealer whilst we wait for ours and it's really a decent car Looking forward to Saturday now Good luck with whatever you choose
