Yes. Well spotted. The monocoque is pretty much done - beyond my expertise so being built by Classic Car Developments in NZ.

I did put the engine together though....

I spent ages looking at the first photo without scrolling down to see if I could figure it out. Didn't get it!

Do you have any more work in progress photos?

Bodywork has finally arrived from massachusetts. Now it will hopefully start to look a little more like a car rather than some weird metal origami...

Long wait for an update, but worth it - any date you aim to have it running by OP?

Thanks. It is my partner's. She has kept it bog standard apart from the wheels. A heap of fun to drive.

That looks fantastic. It doesn't look like your average replica kit build either, to me it looks like a mk2 built to the original spec. Is the engine a 427?

Looking forward to seeing more of it.

No, not a kit. Monocoque built to original dimensions and specifications. Engine is a 351W with Weber 48IDAs. Transaxle is ZF DS25/1. It will end up basically a MKI but with MKII rear bodywork, simply because I like the look. An added bonus is that the extra room afforded by the MKII rear gives a little more clearance to accommodate the 1" extra deck height the 351 has over the original 289 or 302.

Transaxle.

Started on the long slog of prepping the bodywork today. As a lot of you will know, sanding is unbelievably dusty and soul destroying, but all the mould lines on the rear clip are now sanded down. Imperfections are filled and sanded as well and the whole clip has had a once over with 80 grit paper. Fine sanding to come…. As a reward at the end of the day I cut out the area above the engine and cut holes for the rear brake intake snorkels, shaped their bases and loosely fitted them. Finally, cut holes for the taillights and trial fitted them also. Doesn’t look too shabby. I suspect the front clip is going to be a whole lot more difficult….

Using a very simple jig and my trusty router I cut slots in the rear spoiler over the weekend and trial mounted it.
