All of the above together with a dose of "it'll also increase the number of things people are forced to buy on site."

This 'locking in' by VISA so you can't buy anything without one of their poxy cards is a totally rotten trend in major sport. I'm seriously considering returning mine.

The daft thing is that they've had to install lots of potable water fountains in the park as you cannot deprive visitors access to drinking water and then force them into buying refreshments.

It would have been much cheaper to give each person a bottle of water once through the turnstiles...

Unsurprisingly all types of knives are banned – but an exception is made for "the Sikh article of faith kirpan/ceremonial dagger", which will be allowed

The dos and don'ts, that any country holding the Olympic Games must comply with, stretches to four foot of shelf space.

Interesting to see how this pans out as I've been told anyone turning up in 'obviously' branded clothing (assuming large logo on shirts or obvious markings on trainers etc) that is not a product from one of the 2012 sponsors (Adidas etc) will be asked to change, cover up or be refused entry. I assume there will be a supply of plain t-shirts provided for those that fall foul of the 'ambush marketing' rule by the IOC.

Certainly we had to ensure there were no manufacturer's logos visible on drain covers, irrigation boxes, seating, lighting, fencing etc... Some products were specially fabricated without logos, while others had to be ground off or suitably covered.

No SLR cameras allowed (according to the image)? Can't see where it is mentioned in the text. Anyone know the details regarding this?

You may bring in SLR cameras as long as the body and lens length does not exceed 30cm. This is to exclude long zoom lenses as they are assumed to be professional/semi professional kit which may be used to produce saleable photos (thing is you can crop a photo successfully from an 18-20 megapixel camera taken with a 300-400mm lens to enlarge the subject matter anyway).

Can't they just put a tiny piece of fish on every plate?

Or a plastic fish?

Easiest thing would be to take some cash out from their bank's ATM prior to entering the Olympic Park and use that for drinks, snacks and souvenirs - although obviously you don't know exactly how much you are going to spend until you're inside
That works for people like me who are comfortable carrying a few hundred pounds in their wallet. Many people assume they'll be mugged when they carry cash and are terrified to do it.

To be honest the whole rules and regulations thing seems so petty I'm glad I'm not going and I think this thread needs some input from Godwins law.
