Just on hold to a large broker. As expected, they've asked for a load of standard details in order to produce a quote, which stops just short of asking when you last attended the Clap Clinic and why.

Then they stick you on hold to "get your best quote". Now it occurs to me that I've given them everything they need (3 pieces of information; name, DOB and email address) to go to comparethemarket.com, click "retrieve my quotes" and do just that. That would allow them to a) check that the lowest quote I had received wasnt made up b) check for discrepencies between what I told their operator and what I plug into the computer at home, anonymously etc etc If I was them, thats what I'd be doing.

In future I will be giving an email address different from the one I use for price comparison websites.

Call me a cynic.

Note: they were £280 more than what I was quoted on the comparison website, as it goes. So being a PHer and going via thier sticky, didnt count for much....

Why would they go to that trouble when they can just use the lie detector to see if you're talking st? You do know about the lie detector, right?

I had already assumed the presence of the lie detector. And that my living room is bugged, obviously.

You're closer to the truth in some circumstances than you realise.

Comparison sites ask for a password too. Did you give them that?

Nothing to worry about, voice analysis is sometimes used in during a claim or by an investigator instructed by an insurer.
You're made aware of it prior to the call.

Talking of insurance, an AMAZING thing happened to me this month - which in 25 years of driving, I've never had.

My current provider (Swiftcover) has recently emailed me about my impending insurance renewal. This year, it's 50 quid cheaper than last year! yikes

And after doing 'Confused' and 'Meerkats' is about 65 quid cheaper than anything else I could get.

What are the chances of that, eh?? Incredible!
