Story from the Edinburgh Fringe Festival:
"INSURERS have refused to endorse a sell-out Festival play in which passengers are driven through the streets of the Capital in a luxury sports car.

A Mobile Thriller was originally set to be performed in a Maserati Quattroporte, but the new owners of Edinburgh-based Glenvarigill Motors, who agreed to supply the car, told producers last week they could not insure the play.

Insurers for the Sytner group decided the play was too risky just two weeks before the show’s opening night.

A spokesman for Hush Productions, who produce the show, said: "The Sytner group simply turned around last Thursday and decided that they wouldn’t support our show.

"It was a complete shock and I thought it would mean the end of the play.

"It really knocked a few years off my life. The last thing we wanted to do was pull the plug.

"Fortunately Edinburgh Audi stepped in at the 11th hour and offered us an Audi A8 for the performance."

A spokeswoman for Glenvarigill Motors added: "Due to the cost of the Maserati vehicle, the insurers decided they were unable to supply the car. I don’t think they quite understood the nature of the show."

The play is described as a chilling thriller from Italian playwright Renato Gabrielli, involving a modern city, a beautiful car, a designer suit and the latest mobile phone."

I have nothing against Audis, except maybe their bland interiors but I probably would have requested a refund!!!
Cheers
