My ph1 Clio 172
Discussion
hi, this is my iceberg silver ph1 i bought last month. i bought it after my previous ph1 which was flame red snapped its cambelt and mangled all 16 valves and the repair costs along with other required parts made it uneconimical to repair so i sold it as a non runner and started the hunt for another one as i love these little cars and for the money i find them hard to beat.
this one has had 3 owners, last one had it for 6 years, loads of service history and has just had both belt kits done for peace of mind, its also totally standard. i have purchased a set of eibach sportlines springs to lower it a bit and firm up the handling as i had these on my previous one and also a powerflexed dogbone mount and some goodridge brake hoses.
I also plan to fit a whiteline arb again after having one on my last car and the pure motorsport top mounts and front strut brace package then just enjoy it. its just turned 70k and is in fantastic condition, wheels were just refurbed. will post up pics of progress. thanks.

Looks very nice mate, I've got a thread on here with mine on somewhere.
Unfortunately the one I bought had been abused and I've now spent the best part of £2K sorting that out (yes I do suck at buying cars).
As for the colour argument, silver is definitely the "proper" colour! Seriously though, I prefer the black ones from the front, but the silver ones from the back.
Now, I'm curious about those ARBs myself. Mine is now on standard suspension (I find it the best blend between ride and handling for the road), but I've read good things about these, the way I'm starting to see it, one of these ARBs would retain my ride quality but sharpen up the handling a tad, is that your experience of them?

hi, yes my previous ph1 had new cup shocks all round, eibach sportlines and handled really well, then i added a whiteline arb and it made a massive difference to the handling, was so tight with no roll and you could really throw it into corners and it would just grip and grip. without doubt was the best modification i made to mine and was easy to fit to.
Nice one. Not sure I'd go as far as cup springs and eibachs on mine (maybe the latter partly for cosmetics if I must) as mine is a b road blaster and daily driver primarily and I like being able to dispatch speed bumps and rough roads with smashing out my fillings but the ARB does sound useful to dial out a little of the under steer at low speeds.
