I plan to watch it somewhere, up on the North Downs somewhere probably, and take the mountain bike, so I can get avoid parking hassles, and can take the off roads trails to get around.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Realisation strikes that I haven't got my road bike back yet, and will really struggle to do so before Friday morning. It's in Boxhill. The road will be shut by then. I just hope I can drive to somewhere not too many miles away and walk in from there.

Are you going to stand next to your bike all day, pointing at it, going "that's mine that is, I'm a proper cyclist"? Surely you're going to lock it up and mooch around the expo, bar, tv area, view the road, etc?

Surely you're going to lock it up and mooch around the expo, bar, tv area, view the road, etc? Much as I love the MTB, it's a complete dog to ride on tarmac. I was looking forward to taking a more scenic route to get there on the road bike before all the mooching stuff. Mainly I'm just frustrated as I'll have been without it for 3 weeks by then because the sodding Campag distributor for the UK seems to have lost the jammed shifter that the LBS sent back for warranty replacement, and I just want to get out and ride it again now the weather has turned nice.

Who here is planning on riding down to Boxhill on Saturday? Living so close (Redhill) would be good to get down there and watch but no ticket for Boxhill itself. If anyone is riding from the same direction could have a mini PH meet somewhere, possibly at the festival?

Gizmoish said: Apparently you don't need tickets to go and watch the individual time trial... Wednesday 1st Aug, I think. Anyone going to support Wiggo? Box Hill Village and all along the non-NT parts of Boxhill Road are free for anyone to watch. Apparently there's going to be a hog roast or some such at The Tree.

I'm really interested to find out how they plan to deal with a break-away on the loop section.
I realise it's unlikely, but there must be a plan for if it does happen.

I realise it's unlikely, but there must be a plan for if it does happen. Unlikely is an understatement! The loop is just shy of 10 miles in length. If any rider makes it that far out in a breakaway, they're going to have to watch out for their red cape getting caught in their chain!

HHHmmm! I wonder how early we're going to need to arrive? Any ideas? My plan is to drive to Chertsey, because that's where I work and there's guaranteed parking and I will only cross the course on the M25, then cycle to Weybridge to watch the outward leg and on to Esher for the return a few hours later. I might be able to park nearer, but don't want to risk getting stuck in traffic and not finding somewhere to park. I did wonder originally about cycling to the Box Hill area, but I just imagine it will be rammed in all directions, bloody Wiggins winning the Tour and increasing interest Our office car park is huge, not regulated, never full even during the week, 3miles? from Weybridge. pm me if you would like details! There's unrestricted on street anyway in the area.
