Stuart, after visiting your website earlier, please sort out one of the biggest tragedies in the industry... You have the skills with the MX5 to make it work, just scale it up a few % to make it fit....

Aeon Epona, too small and impractical for it's Locost chassis, but a supercharged MX5 would work...

Is this still floundering? I thought it had been sold to Aeon?

That is a nice looking car but it would be very easy to spend 50k on a full scale pattern and moulds, and that is just the start, chassis engineering is expensive too. Then you need a demo car and marketing budgets and there is a long delay from day one before/if your first payment comes in. Often potential customers are afraid of parting with money to the new kid on the block.
The big question is, would it sell in large enough numbers at a price level that would support the required investment?
I am selling my X5 Coupe/Superlight project inc moulds and 2 demo cars, a spare chassis and production rights for 25k. That is well below cost but I need the space for my new project.

Thank you for mentioning it, I did speak to Gary who designed it but as far as I know it only got to the styling stage and a small model was made. The low front would be lost if it were MX5 based as there needs to be a bonnet clearance above the cam cover and plenum chamber of 165mm above the centre of the front tyres.
Many designs we see are not easily transferable to reality and often loose their appeal as they are lifted from the paper or are adapted to "fit" and comply.

I thought there was a rolling chassis built too.

The project is now for sale as we need room for other development and expansion so it is available now but will be handed over to someone who wishes to continue with it at some point in the future. I am still making them and taking orders at the moment

I seem to remember that it was going to be based on a 7 type chassis but that would involve considerable modifications or it may end up flexing which is not good on a full bodied car

If its designed to take a 7 style chassis, then there are many that would do, but why not change the doors slightly to take the sides of the chassis into account. why not use beetle wing doors (lambo) with an inset like a GT40 to allow easy access and egress. the side pods could then be storage. Marcel(faraux) appears to do a nice 7 chassis for BMW's that would make a nice sensible package start.

There was also mention of Aeon developing a bespoke chassis for it, rather large thread running on LCB

There was a chassis built for it, but I've no idea what stage it got to in the end.
