I am looking to get some paint work attended to and I was looking at the following bodyshops to do the work:

Performance bodyshop in Airdrie
Pro bodyshop in Cambuslang
Buchans in Rutherglen
Protek in Bathgate
Steve Walker in Bathgate
H. McCartney East Kilbride

Has anybody got any good or bad experiences of these bodyshops or any of these that they would highly recommend?

Last year they made a complete backside of repairing some major front end damage on a friends 911 Turbo - poor panel alignment, forgetting to hook up new headlight cluster, and when he asked them to put it up on ramps for him to inspect the underside he discovered overspray & damage they hadn't attended to - because they probably didn't expect to be caught out?!

I wouldn't trust them.

Might be a bit far out for you, but Ferrymill in Torrance do really good work, and the customer service is generally excellent.

I've used them several times without issue, as have my parents.

Now that's strange because they are Porsche authorised (as very few are) and issue guarantees for completed work using proper Porsche branded paperwork. AFAIK they are also Ferrari authorised, and if your F takes a hit they're certainly one place it's very likely to be sent for repair. I take it they sorted your friend, given the strength of their guarantee on insurance work.

Another smile for Performance bodyshop in Airdrie, they did my old BMW last year. Very happy with the job.

Yes, when he dropped the car off he came back raving about how the car was in safe hands, as Mitchell Inglis had told him all about the training & machinery they had.

The car initially looked ok on the face of it, but I think they got a shock when he asked to see the underside up on the ramps, probably not the norm, and whilst he did get it sorted, it took a few trips back and forth & in the end he was worried that down the line poor workmanship may show itself so sold the car a month later - shame as it was a bit of a beast!

Back on topic I can second Terzo's recommendation of Ferrymill, sorted a car for me about 6 yrs ago and its still in the family & the paintwork looks great, no tell-tale signs years later that its been painted!

Not much changed from when it was Hardie Inglis then? I had them repair some damage on the driver’s side rear quarter panel on my show winning Mk2 Golf Rallye. Received a similar speal about their quality and training. When I picked the car up there was a dinning in the driver’s door which had obviously happened while in their hands as you could see where the wet paint had been moved and also their attempt at blending in the panels was terrible.

Another vote for Stevie Walker in Bathgate, been using Stevie for over 20 years. He's always got something interesting or unusual in too.

Had plenty work done up at Performance Bodyshop on previous vehicles etc and after being there, seen it, done it with plenty other paint shops.... That's where I would recommend, Colin the owner is a big car enthusiast, great eye for detail and only wants to put the best finished job possible out the door!.

Went in the end with Steve Walker, performance were far too dear more than double the two from Bathgate. I was impressed with Protek but Walkers were cheaper for the same job, and they have a good rep.

Dentec out in Rutherglen are good, but then we could go on all night!! Lol.

I used Dentec to paint my year old E92 M3, absolutley faultless. And reasonably priced too! (Which is always a bonus wink)
