Meanwhile, Pompey finally found their shooting boots tonight - although a huge "thanks fella" to Jonathan Greening for getting sent off just before half time; stupid challenge leading with his elbow. That made the second half easy. I wonder how often we (or anyone really) have scored 6 in one half?
Odd, because York looked decent first half, but gave up a bit when down to 10 men.
Right, bring on Wycombe on Saturday. Any Chair Boys on here?
Mike.
Couldn't make it to Fratton Park tonight as I have sprained my ankle and I miss the best match of the season so far.

I think it was the smell emanating from the away end.

Indeed. Everyone in there was pissing themselves laughing I expect. I hate the smell of wee too.

Understandable, I can imagine the smell of deodorant and cleanliness emanating from the away end could upset the Swilly masses.

TBF, we were/are missing some key players - Super Luke McCormick, Rueben Reid, Peter Hartley, Hiraim Boeteng....

We weren't great, and we made hard work of the draw against Orient last night, but Exeter aren't all that good. They play well on a good surface, and lets face it, ours is probably the best outside the Championship.

But all that will be forgotten in the promotion party in May. The one Exeter haven't got an invite for...;)

Shows how poor your squad is if you're trotting out that tired old excuse. We had a couple of youth players up front and a bunch of homegrowns in the match day squad yet you still lost to us, an average side languishing in mid table obscurity.

Plus if you don't get them back soon and carry on your current form you might not have an invitation to your own party either - isn't it one win from the last five or something now? But then again, I expect you'll be happy to throw one for whoever does win - remind me again about playing 'We are the Champions' for Newcastle when they won at your place to secure promotion.

Poor excuse? You more than anyone should know how thin squads are at this level, seeing as you have always been at this level.

Antony, FFS man! Lose the chip on your shoulder. This is a thread for banter and discussion for all of us anguishing in L1 and L2. It's not PASOTI or ExeWeb.

We are all down here because we are not good enough. It was only last season that Tisdale put himself on the subs bench wasn't it? as Selym rightly says, all squads are paper thin down here in the basement. Of course, you can bankroll your way out of L2 - Fleetwoood, Crawley, etc, but as has been proven time and again, it's a short term fix. Crawley are back down and Fleetwood are flirting with relegation.

The simple hard facts are that everyone can beat everyone - look at Daggers last night, nailed on for relegation you would think, but take a cheeky win in SW London. We have them Saturday, I'm going and would love to see us tonk them by three or four goals, but as long as we play to win, and hopefully come away with three points....

ETA: Have you still got your Tiger?

Good post.

I remember my thoughts when we finally were relegated from the Championship, 'We'll be right back up; we are too good for L1'. Then another relegation; the same thought. More fool me.

We are all in the same situation, having to innovate or sell off the best young talent to raise money to survive, not even hope for promotion. Even the 'big boys' like Pompey are in the same situation; it's a bit of good football and a lot of luck to get promoted, and hope to hell you don't come right back down next season.

I know this is the footy thread, but why are you getting rid of the Tiger if it's not a rude question? And if you do/are, give me a shout?

Fixed that for you, TS.... hehe

Another rotten performance last night, losing 1-0 to Wycombe. Two decent chances in the ninety minutes and both missed - Wycombe toyed with us and made us look non-league which is what we will be come the summer next year. Can't believe that just 20 months ago, we beat Watford and took a point off Leicester.... that is some fall from grace. But still, things could be worse, we could be looking to arrest our slide by loaning in a Tottenham defender.... rofl . I jest, he's probably pretty good and if he's anything like the last one we got (Steven Caulker) we are in for a treat.

To the thread's Grecians - good book coming out next year about one man's devotion to Exeter City. The author, Simon Carter, is a good friend of mine. So good in fact that he asked me to give up my weekend and read his book, proof-reading it for errors. All 126.000 words of it. eek but it is a great read, especially the season I became an honorary Grecian and watched you take the Division Four title (89/90). Happy days, I watched seven or eight home games that season. What a team that was!!

I'll let you know when the book's out but it's worth investing in.

Where as I'm glad I didn't travel down.

I texted a mate from the IOW before the game saying I'd take a draw and that our defence was a mess. Now Jackie McNamara understands just how big a mess it is. Although starting with two very young defenders is down to him and him alone.

We played them last Saturday, at home, which finished 1-1. They were their usual cheating selves. Very poor show from them (as usual) - everything that's wrong in the game. And the ref and lino was pretty poor too.

Hope you stuff them good and proper, please thumbup

We're away to the O's.
Wycombe really are a dirty bunch and what's worse is their fans seem to think they're god's gift to football.

Teddy Sheringham finally got his first away win last night at Bristol Rovers who seem to have been very hit or miss this season. Come out of a tough October with a better than expected points haul given how we entered it. Strangely we have occupied 20th spot for 11 consecutive games?! 4 unbeaten now though and we finally have a settled back 4.

Just as we finally look like we might be competitive this season Brentford go and pinch our manager. Gutted to see him leave as he's managed to get together a great young squad, as well as getting them playing good football.

I wish him the best, can't blame him as Brentford must be doubling his wages at least, just dreading who the next cheap option out chairman will go for.
