To make up for the crap weather at Chatsworth today, I'm willing to organise another meet. My thoughts are an event at the Heritage Motor Museum, Gaydon, near Warwick, on either Sat/Sun 14th/15th. September. they'll cater for special car club type events and there's a museum if it rains!! Register your interest here, I'll wait a week or so, and if there's enough interest, I'll start doing some organising.

I'm there - Gaydon is a great place, even if it is to look at the straaanngge British cars over the year. Oh, be warned though the shop / canteen / snacks are not cheap (but then again did anyone have a sandwich from the Chatsworth shop? £2.25 for a cheese and onion! Sign of the times I guess).

Cheers,

Paul

If the sandwich was from the Chatsworth farm shop, I bet it was stilton and shallotte, not cheese and onion - food of the commonners

Damn and blast! I'll be on holiday. Oh, well. If it changes, let me know - unless you want to make it somewhere near Troon?

Flasher and i will be in the south of France on the proposed date!

Mid September is likely to be a washout, why not go for Sunday the 21st of July or about the 20/27th ish of August, both of which would possible provide a higher chance of good weather than September!

Gaydon is a good choice, beaulieu is also excellent though.

Thanks Nubbin

My vote is for Beaulieu and July / August if possible.
Keep up the good work nubbin!

I'll be up for whatever date. Unlikely I'll have anything more exotic than the ford to show off unless I have an "off" in the near future. Hmmmmnn.....idea ...

Hmmm, looks like there's a few people away on that date. I chose Gaydon to try to make it more central for everyone, but like I said, I'll leave it for a week or so before doing anything. So let me know your preferred dates and venues - it could be anywhere - Belvoir castle was another place I thought of, and also Sherwood forest park (the same forest as Centre Parcs). That has lovely parking and play areas amongst the trees. Possibly last weekend in August - 31st or 1st. Sept.? Would you prefer Saturday or Sunday?

One last point - Yesterday, I felt it was difficult to meet people, partially because of the rain, but also there was no focal point for gathering (except flasher's gazebo!). What would you feel about hiring a marquee, and everyone chipping in £10 or something, to pay for it? Or is that getting a bit serious? Thoughts, please....

Nubbin,
Great to meet you and so many others yesterday. Nice to put cars and faces to names.
I'm up for "anytime, anyplace, anywhere" (as the martini ad used to say - oh, and except for 10-24 August.)
I think a meeting point is a great idea, even if it's only a flag in an open space (assuming the weather's a little more clement) - also, how about people putting together a little history of their cars to stick in their windows? Some of the more exotics I'd never seen before (such as the pair of immaculate Vixens) and knew nothing about.
Thanks for organising

We had a good day yesterday despite the rain - thanks for organising.

It's a yes for Gaydon for us.

Agree with your comment on the focal point, althjough if the weather had been fine, we would probably all have spread out on the grass and got to speak with a few more bods.

Rather than a Marquee - how about a couple of Flasher style gazeebos - cheap to buy, easy to transport and construct and simple to dress with Piston Heads logo's - Happy to contribute in anway financial to purchase anything like this as Me and Mrs Herbie Hammer enjoyed yesterday, but want to be dry (or in the shade if we get a heatwave)next time.

Cheers

HH.

I'm up for that! I live about 7 miles away!

Shame about the weather yesterday, but thanks for sorting it, Nubbin. If you need any assistance with the Gaydon event, drop me a mail, I can easily deal with any "local" needs. Also, I am in the signage/graphics game, so any signs that need doing...
