Smoking with your kids in the car?
Discussion
Last weekend I was driving home and stopped at some traffic lights, next to a medium size MPV, one of them Focus C Max's. It had a funny baby on board type tag in the window and it looked like the driver was sat on their own at the front with another lady sat directly behind her.
In my sidewards glance I could see that there was a baby seat to the left of the lady in the back and the lady in the back was smoking! She'd opened her window up an inch or so but the baby seat looked like one of them upto 18 months.
I was quite taken aback by this and pretty horrified.
Now to be fair I saw the seat but i couldn't see whether there was a baby in it, but given the lady sat in the back i think there may have been..
Is this normal or am i over reacting?

Always disgusts me when I see this.
I'm a smoker myself and would never consider doing so around my children as I feel that not only is it highly irresponsible from a health viewpoint I also believe that if your kids see you smoke regularly it psychologically becomes a 'normal' thing to do and makes it more likely they will pick up the habit at a later date.
And to the "non of your business" brigade, is this really a topic where apathy = the high moral ground?

I wasn't saying it was any of my business, I was simply very surprised.
I didn't say you said it was any of your business...Cyder said:
When I were but a wee lad (well OK about 12-13) I remember going to the beach with my mate and his Dad and on the way there his Dad sparked up the biggest joint I'd ever seen, we were high as kites in the back of the car.
Somehow we made it there and back in one piece, no idea how!
Modern parenting at it's best there...Somehow we made it there and back in one piece, no idea how!

On a slight side issue....
My wife did the 'Race for Life' on Sunday and there was a woman walking the course smoking and had a couple of kids in tow.
NON of my business of course but I thought it was a tad insensitive as I guess many of the people raising money and partaking had lost loved ones due to cancer.
