Hiya

I am trying to replace the rear brake pads on my partners Alfa 147 04 reg 1.6. However the lower calliper bolt is obstructed by one of the two arms that connect to the bottom hub assembly. There appears to be no way of getting a socket or spanner to the bolt head without removing the entire hub.

I have searched many forums, but i can't find any answers to this problem.

Can anyone please advise me on if the hub has to be removed or if there is an easier method to remove the calliper.

Many thanks for any help.

14mm long reach socket. Put the extension bar on and it will go on. There is also a 17mm counter nut you'll need to hold while loosening. Oh and you'll need a piston wind back tool

Are you trying to remove the wrong bolts? There shouldn't be any problems with access - it's the two smaller bolts on the slider you need to remove, not the bigger caliper mounting bolts. There's a good guide here:

You might also want to pop over to http://www.alfaowner.com and ask the same question in the forums there, I've had a number of questions answered already and I only got my alfa/registered on the forums this week.

Thank you. It was the wrong bolts I was trying to remove. I feel a bit of a plank now!! smile Lol. I also bought the Laser windback tool. A major god send. Both sides done in under 30 mins.

Thank you for all your help everyone.
