It's time to go. It's been great, and my liver even survived. Any recommendations for which company is cheapest/best to move a 20ft container's worth of household stuff from Singapore to Belfast? Crown brought us here and did a great job, but they're not exactly cheap (circa s$12k+GST).

Know a few people that have used these people in the UK

http://www.sterlingrelocation.com/ (including myself a few times)

They manage the whole move including local parties at either end and have been very good!

Also if you are paying yourself rather than the company do tell them as they do try to help a bit more with the costs!

I have used Crown on two occasions now, once from Vietnam, which was appalling, it took over three months to get the container contents to my house and once from Thailand which was excellent. I didnt have a choice with the Thailand choice although i was pleased it went really well and only took 28 days from door to door with 20cubic metre. Plus the guys who delivered unloaded to each room and made all my furniture up for me, two large hardwood beds and dining table and chairs, even helped the Mrs put the new curtains up that we had bought before going home. Only cost me a few tea bags and a load of sandwiches, great guys.

I used Crown to get my stuff here , service was pretty good - though took a month + to load in the UK [ to aggregate with other goods .. as I was only moving out a part container ]

the packers in the UK damaged a bookcase by gaffer taping directly onto the surface.

..otherwise OK , and they were good at this end wiht rebuilding by beds but they are about 10% or so more expensive than some others.

Rachael and I are moving from Singapore to Houston next month.

We decided that containers were so expensive that it was better just to give away (as long as they pay for the removal) all our furniture (most of it was cheap/ Ikea anyway) to our mates and just air freight the rest in boxes!

When I arrived, I never intended on buying nice stuff I'd have to ship, so I could pocket the container money, effectively. Still, shipping Rachael, boxes/ luggage and 2 cats will probably cost me the same as containering my own stuff frown

Would if I could wink

Her flight is paid for by my company... I have to pay for the cats... Which is more like $3k-$4k... Ouch frown

I don't even like cats.
